I can install DI 9c on my comp with XP, but I heard some bad reports about it? I dont know if any of them are true.

Doesn anyone here have any problems with it?

Not another version, unless Half Life 2 needs it, I'm not gonna use it... I've got an aging Nvidia 64Mb GeForce 2 MX-400... I don't see what 9.0c would bring to a card like that personally :roll:

Direct X 9.0c gets installed when install XP SP2. It can be download with SP2 from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/default.aspx

 

I'm running it, played all my games currently installed and its fine.

They were going to change to a new files system for some reason, finally realised it was stupid and dropped it. NTFS works just fine.

Mid to late 2006.

 

The pushed Longhorn back and shifted focus so they could work on SP2.

I don't really want the same interface to be honest... move that start button, keep the icons. Obviously don't make it harder to use, but Windows needs a serious overhaul.. Its looked like minor updates every version since windows 95... I do hope this is a new breed... gives me an excuse to buy a new PC

Yeh thats cool, NTFS is a cool system, though it sucks that you can't see it from FAT 32 or Win Me and lower. (I'm on an ICT education so I've met this problem more then once)

64 Bit .... need a 64 Bit motherboard for that

I wonder how many people without 32-bit motherboards go out and buy this thinking it as an update to windows Xp or 2003... Really Longhorn should only be sold with new PCs and those retailers who supply new PC components. Because I can see, come 2006 when it's out, our tech support forums being flooded, and anywhere regarding tech support will have a field day answering the same problem.

 

64 bit despite it being relatively new will become a thing of the past soon. Aparently within the next 10 or so years PC's will be running at Terrahertz clock speeds, with terrabyte hard drives, and will have a 1 million bit component MOBO... that's from the same computer magazine that mentioned the use of DVD's in 1994, TFT Monitors in 1991, and the 64 bit computer as mentioned here back in 1997.

I think it will be available with the purchase of new components or new a new computer. Windows XP 64bit edition will only be available like that. You can't buy it retail.

Well, i do know some of my older games, with simply run way to fast if I were to play them here, cus they were based on old comps
