EA 'wins' worst company in US again

Recommended Posts

EA has topped Consumerist’s Worst Company in America poll for the second consecutive year.

The gargantuan publisher trounced Bank of America in the final round of voting, claiming 78 per cent of the ballot.

On Monday EA COO Peter Moore wrote a defence of his company, claiming that much of hate directed at EA came from a place of ignorance. However, he did recognise that it had made mistakes and could do better.

Consumerist responded to Moore’s statements, claiming that EA had missed an opportunity to express some much-needed contrition. It was equally damning in its summary of EA’s second win.

“Following last year’s surprise Worst Company In America victory by Electronic Arts, there was hope that the video game giant would get the message: Stop treating your customers like human piggy banks, and don’t put out so many incomplete and/or broken games with the intent of getting your customers to pay extra for what they should have received in the first place,” said Consumerist.

“And yet, here we are again, with EA becoming the first company to ever win a second Golden Poo from Consumerist readers.”

According to Consumerist, EA has repeatedly failed to provide or support products people wanted or liked, and didn’t sell its games at a reasonable price.

“When we live in an era marked by massive oil spills, faulty foreclosures by bad banks, and rampant consolidation in the airline and telecom industry, what does it say about EA’s business practices that so many people have – for the second year in a row – come out to hand it the title of Worst Company In America?” it added.

lol, poor EA they just can't catch a break. To be fair, there are far worse corporations out there, its just their detractors aren't nearly as vocal as the gaming community. :D

Pretty soon Vivendi which owned 61% of Activision Blizzard could join this list soon. :P

But this rigged poll to EA is thanks to what happened to SimCity several weeks ago and the stepping down of EA's CEO.

It wasn't rigged...

I suppose it depends on the predominant age group of the voters. If it was all kids voting who've never dealt with banks and economics yet, than of course a game company is going to be their greatest concern.

Doesn't make it so. You could argue it was biased or fundamentally flawed, but it wasn't rigged.

I honestly don't care about this crap poll. Because EA or more specifically EALA, and now Victory Games, have been good to me on a personal basis in many ways :)

But they have also been bad to their communities on a global basis in many ways ;)

Of course. You are running a fan site. The least they can do is be good to you.

Yes Jehal that is true. If you were in my position you would see that its important for me to building a working relationship with them. My point is, we as C&C fans, shouldn't think about EA the big global corporation. Just focus on the Victory Games team in LA. Its much easier ;)

Its clear to me that I see things very differently to many of you in this C&C community.
