Sony have revealed what the PS4 looks like. No what I was expecting but here it is....

 

Personally I think both Sony and Microsoft have come up with some very bland looking designs for their next gen consoles. At first glance they almost look similar. But in the end its the games that really count. And neither launch line up says "buy me now" to me. Will probably end up buying both consoles eventually anyway.

From perspective of state of 3rd category* i may say, that Microsoft which have a huge amount of sales of Windows Phone in Poland, totally omitted us... again. We've been waiting here for "Xbox Live"... i can't even count how long - until last year this option is avaiable for us. The situation repeat itself once again, because with new "Xbox", Poland (not only, but i report from my side) won't be able to register to this service... again -.-

Microsoft may say anything gallant about "fighting with piracy" etc. but when someone obey their rules, he get hardly kick in the "bottom" for no reason.

 

The situation is really tangled, because if Microsoft wants to fight one-on-one with Sony, why the heck they want to force people to buy their console... if there is just a shadow of chance, that it will run in unsupported country? How they want to earn money, when they are closing emerging markets by themselfs? I don't know who is their Sales Manager, but on their place i would consider to fire him for diminish outlet market.

 

*20th biggest economy in the world and 6th in EU.

.... didn't care about the console wars for either era.

What it comes down to is this. If you don't like either console don't buy one. Like the PS4 then buy it, Xbox One, same thing. I just don't understand why people get so worked up over a new gaming console. Is there some law saying you must choose one or the other.

I feel like it's like any good ol' competition. Someone's making something, so you need to make something better. In this case, Sony is dominating. When the consoles are costing multiple hundreds of dollars/pounds (and then another ~60 per game), I think it really is a battle of one or the other. We're talking an investment that will last people many years. Not that I'll buy either, but given the choice, I'm seeing a lot of reason to buy a PS4 and avoid the Xbox altogether.

Also, Sony seems to maintain the old-school game development policies that have been removed from Xbox One and, sadly, the PC.

I think you buy a console because of the games, and xbox still have the sought of games that American's want.

So despite the rhetoric, I predict xboxone will probably do better better than PS4 at the end of the day.

 

I was saving up for one or the other this Christmas, but never have won me over at this point.
