Superman - Man of Steel

Recommended Posts

I saw Superman last night, I really enjoyed the beginning.

But left the theatre with a meh attitude.

Wait for DVD I say.

I thought Zod was the wrong villan for this reboot, he should have been kept for the next. Supes should have been shown to be our hero for our problems. In this film he announces his presence by fighting against Zod - which I think is the wrong message. I liked the Zod character and his actor, but I prefer the writing (not the acting) of the Smallville Zod. In an ironic twist I scheduled to watch the original Superman II tonight. We'll see how it compares.

Lacked the wow factor of the failed reboot (plane rescue and machine gun to the eye) and was hurt by bad cgi (compared to industry leaders). I didn't mind any of the casting, I think Costner did a serviceable job, Crowe was more active than I was expecting.

I struggled a bit with the notion of the damage down to metropolis by Supes at the end. Felt more, way more, damage was inflicted to a city compared with Avengers. And it felt disrespectful, I kept wondering about 9/11 and how the audience would feel. Weird.

Bad CGI and the issues with why the Kryptonian's couldn't do this or that with their technology really bugged me.

I think we discussed the idea that no modern day superhero needs it's origin story told in the way that Spiderman did. In this case, I felt it was justified and cleverly done. But I felt like the transformation from noob to confident superhero; from earth's enemy to earth's friend was not given enough attention on-screen. Certainly his first battle with the army soldiers needed to show him saving humans more... for instance. Sometimes the movie maker really does need to hold your hand and show you what's happening - the trick is avoiding cliché's.

Are there any Superman fans here - anyone know if the origin story is based on a particular comic or was it all written specifically for the film?

The first three Superman movies were not bad, when Christopher Reeve acted.

The reboot as the fifth Superman movie "Superman Returns" was a failure.

But this one, if Christopher Nolan had directed the film in addition from co-producing and writing the film, this movie would have been more epic with less flaws.

I haven't got a chance to watch it yet, but I will watch it as soon as it hits in Blu-ray/DVD.

Can't say I have been a big superman fan in the past but this movie was an abomination.

So the first half of the movie is just boring, I didn't mind the bits on Krypton but that's about it. But once the break hits you think that surely the worst must be over. No, screams Zack Snyder, **** you, you're now going to sit through a half an hour of people delivering expositions to an otherwise pointless Lois Lane and then watch an agonizing 45 minutes of fight scenes. At the end when he was going for the final fight against Zod I was on the verge of walking out, I had already sat through 40 minutes of the same, damn thing.

In conclusion this movie was an absolute trainwreck and no one should go seeing it without bringing a sleeping mask.

This was my first Superman movie and I was having high expectations after all the reviews. The first part, although slow is kinda ok and I was hoping for a an epic Climax with some awesome battles. But in the end it was all too familiar and repetitive. The fight scenes were basically ripped from Transformers. My score would be 5.9/10.

SAN DIEGO — Something super this way comes: Batman and Superman will team up on the big screen for a movie in 2015, Warner Bros. announced this afternoon at San Diego Comic-Con.

"Man of Steel" director Zack Snyder took the stage for a surprise announcement at the tail end of the joint Warner Bros./Legendary Pictures preview panel.

"There's been a lot of speculation about what we're doing," he said, after thanking fans for their support. "It is official that we are going to make another Superman movie."

"You guys may ask what is the movie about," he teased. "The truth is you don't want me to tell you what the movie is about, right?"

He called Harry Lennix, who played General Swanwick in "Man of Steel," to the stage for the big reveal, because "his voice is just way better than mine." Lennix took to a spotlit podium to read a passage from "The Dark Knight Falls," a scene in which Batman has just tangled with Superman.

"I want you to remember, Clark," Lennix read. "In all the years to come, and all your most private moments, I want you to remember my hand at your throat. I want you to remember the one man who beat you."

All five of the massive screens in Hall H, which held approximately 6,000 screaming fans, lit up with a greyscale Superman S, with Batman's signature winged silhouette soon stacking behind it.

Singer stressed before the passage that the script for the film is not yet complete and that they're not adapting "Batman vs. Superman," but that the passage would "help tell that story."

"Man of Steel" star Henry Cavill is expected to once again don the red and blue suit and cape, but expect a fresh face to step into the role of Batman. (Whether his suit will come with nipples included or not is TBD.) Christian Bale, who starred in Christopher Nolan's "Dark Knight" trilogy, has repeatedly insisted that he won't play Batman in future flicks.

David Goyer, who wrote "Man of Steel," will reportedly return as screenwriter for the new movie.

But wait, there's more! A "Flash" movie is reportedly slated for 2016, and DC's response to "Marvel's The Avengers," "Justice League," following in 2017.

Superman and Batman in one movie can be more awesome if Wonder Woman and Green Lantern are added in the cast.

Wonder woman, maybe... Green lantern, HELL NO. That movie was utter crap. :P

They should just make a Justice League movie, that would be awesome. :) (Minus Green Lantern.)

I think this idea B v S makes a lot of sense. All the rest of the JL just take up too much screentime.

Doesn't mean the movie will be good, but it makes sense.
