A small article about RTS criteria

Hi,

Looking at Steam Greenlight, they have a workshop session where they make lists of game to present for their community.

 

One of these articles is this one to enroll RTS games:

RTS Greenlight games

 

"The goal is to list all the RTS games on greenlight. Whether a game is added to list depends on how many of the following rules it passes.

Rules for this collection(these rules may be revised at a later date, comment If you think I should add or change a rule):

• All game-play must take place in real time. Half and half TBS-RTS games don't count;
• You must be able to collect resources in some way (even if they just generate over time);
• You must be able to spend resources for in game assets: units, buildings or upgrades;
• At least some of the units you control must be mobile;
• You must be able to control more than one unit."

I've found it interesting to post and maybe discuss if there ain't nothing else.

As an aside, by these rules, GTA V is an RTS game.

 

Gameplay is in real time, not turn based.

You can collect cash and weapons.

You can use cash to buy weapons, cars, clothes, buildings (property)

Every unit is mobile.

You can control three units.

HL Wars is one of the fewest RTS games released under the Source engine. Hopefully that it maybe qualifies for Steam Greenlight.
