Sonic 295 Posted November 5, 2013 Reports from around the community suggest that the servers for the closed the alpha of the now cancelled Command & Conquer are no longer accessible. Despite the cancellation last week, and the closure of Victory Games, the servers were still online and people who had access to the alpha build could still login and play the game. Up until sometime earlier today apparently. Assuming the reports are true, the game is well and truly over now. They were not going to be online forever anyway. Share this post Link to post
Golan 6 Posted November 5, 2013 Earlier Dev posts suggested that the details of the CC13 severs were simply unknown to EA, leaving them in a running state simply for lack of awareness of their existence. Due to them being hosted in the amazon cloud, discovering them was non-trivial. It's very likely that either EA did trace the bills or the closure of VG simply meant that running costs were no longer paid, as would fit the beginning of the month. Share this post Link to post
PurpleGaga27 40 Posted November 5, 2013 Gone or not, I hope pretty soon someone will mod the game and the alpha game can still work through third-party servers. 1 1 Share this post Link to post
Golan 6 Posted November 6, 2013 Gone or not, I hope pretty soon someone will mod the game and the alpha game can still work through third-party servers. Why would anybody do that? Setting aside the fact that it's effectively pirating the game which EA won't like and has probably taken measures against, it's a huge investment of time and resources to save what is, in its current state, simply a ****ty game. 1 1 Share this post Link to post
