I gave the new beta a try, but it crashed on me twice, just before the end of two different matches... :(

While the update fixes some balance changes, fixes and enhancements, this isn't worth the download which is 800 MB larger than the last download (and I thought they included new maps and structures/units other than enhancing maps with new textures/lighting). Too bad the devs did not want patches released available until the auto-patcher is done and released in a future version to come. Since there are still reports of crash issues, I'll wait until the next version is released with auto-patcher.

Haven't been able to complete many games of Renegade X lately. Its just constantly crashing. It either crashes to the desktop, freezes or it crashes with a blue screen error. I hope the Renegade X team are working on this.

This probably explains the drop in player numbers in recent weeks. People are staying away because of the crashing.

I hope the devs fix the crash issue(s) asap because some people in the Renegade-X forums are already pleading for an open beta 3 release at once.

Other than the crash issues, I really hope the Chemical Trooper 3D model is only a placeholder - the old Renegade version was more unique and thematic.

As of right now, the devs are MIA. There's already a grim feeling at the Ren-X forums that some devs have have walked away from development. No dev has responded to the crash issues, all but the beta testers and server owners.

Maybe they're just too busy fixing up the next Open Beta release or something.
