Silverdragon8567 0 Posted October 4, 2004 First, I've heard that you can only create 100 buildable vehicles. Is this true? If so, is there anyway to create more than 100 units? I'd also like to know if there is anyway to play the orignal RA2 music in YR? If so, how would I do that? And last, can you make total new super weapons? If so, how? I use the ini files to edit. Thanks for your help! Share this post Link to post
Doctor Destiny 42 Posted October 4, 2004 1) Almost true. Each of the unit lists can only go up to 100 or the AI goes crazy. There is no way around it as far as we know. 2) Yes, indeed it is. It requires some thememd.ini editing. All you have to do is take the theme.mix from an RA2 CD, copy it to your RA2 folder, rename it expandmd##.mix. Replace ## with a number ABOVE 10. Remove the semi-colons in front of the RA2 songs and you're done. 3) You might say you can, you might say you can't. We have fake superweapons and you can replace old ones but you cannot have a totally new one with a timer and target cursor. Share this post Link to post
Silverdragon8567 0 Posted October 5, 2004 Thanks for the info. Would it be possible to change some of the civilan units like the buses and cars into military units that the player and AI can use? Thanks again for all the help! Share this post Link to post
Doctor Destiny 42 Posted October 5, 2004 Yes, you can convert cars and buses to player buildable. Give them a prerequisite and a TechLevel. Making the AI use them is a little tricky so hold off on that for a little while. And no problem. Share this post Link to post
Silverdragon8567 0 Posted October 5, 2004 I did what you said to do about the music but it didn't work. I gave it the number 12. I also can't edit the thememd.ini file. Can you please help with this? Share this post Link to post
Doctor Destiny 42 Posted October 5, 2004 Show me what you did in the theme file. You have to remove the semicolons in front of the numbers near the top as well. Share this post Link to post
Silverdragon8567 0 Posted October 5, 2004 I used the XCC Mixer's Theme Writer to edit theme and thememd. Is that what you use? I don't know how else to edit the theme files, because when I extract them with Mixer, they can't be edited. I don't see any semi colins in the files I have. Share this post Link to post
Doctor Destiny 42 Posted October 6, 2004 I use WordPad for all my editing. Extract the file as an INI. Share this post Link to post
J-Fire_Man 0 Posted October 6, 2004 I use NotePad . Using manual editing is more fast and realiable. Share this post Link to post
Guest Posted October 22, 2004 go to www.cannis.net and get the soundtrack editor. i recommend u disable mod trax in the options menu, cause enabling it will screw the audio in the main menu that should fix audio real good oh, and by the way, a long time ago, i DID make my own thememd.ini file using an alternate approch that is not recommended... alleylee 0 Posted November 17, 2004 LONG LIVE MANUAL EDITING!!! THX FENRING... actually... manual isn't always faster... but it promises more and easier to organize.. because you can create sub groups right on the file... Share this post Link to post
Doctor Destiny 42 Posted November 17, 2004 Making your own theme file is the way you should go. You can customize the playlist to a great extent and even add your own tracks. Conceivably, you can play cruel jokes on fans of the soundtracks by changing what songs certain identifiers reference. Share this post Link to post
alleylee 0 Posted November 18, 2004 joy... only if i have the brains and the time to create my own mod.. i have 2 in running.. and i barely touched any of them... i don't know when i will get back to editing.. i hope i still remember... Share this post Link to post
