So I follow the guide but it turn out like that....

The guide seem to use TW textures and not KW

 

The real question though is if I need to rotate something in map or the texture itself? :/

Yes, you neet to rotate the second UV Layer by 90 degrees.

You mean to rotate the yellow Planar?

 

Because I tried that,

 

Could you deal with my ignorance and show me pic / give me more detail about what exactly to rotate? Max like xml is not exactly my field xD

I have no idea what the yellow planar is...

 

Make sure you have an "Unwrap UVW" modier and "Map Channel 2" selected, then click "Edit".

Then simple use the rotate tool to rotate the thing in the "Edit UVWs" window until its standing upright. Note that using the Resize Tool next to Rotate can affect the texture speed.
