I got this e-mail yesterday, and I already have seen many things like this before and ussually I ignore 'em. But, this one looks convincing. Can someone tell me if this true or NOT? Is this really for me or just a bull****?

Of course it's fake :roll: No lottery emails you, you don't give them your email address when you buy a ticket. Unless you live in the UK and play the National Lottery online.

Don't get sucked in by rubbish like this. When the spam hits your inbox hit the delete button, don't reply to it, infact don't even bother opening it.

 

I use MailWasher to check to my e-mail. It downloads the headers of each message, I pick out legitimate e-mails and delete the rubbish right off the mail server before it downloads to my inbox.

I use SpamBayes which is a plugin for Outlook, it deletes all the spam emails as they arrive.

I only get spam through my ISP's email address because all my other email accounts have good server-side anti-spam filters.

Well, there are not much spams I got when I use Yahoo mailbox. When I still use my old mailbox, I got bunch of stuffs like that every weeks.

The worst thing about spam is there is nothing at all that you can do to stop it. Blocking their email does not help. Asking to be removed from their messaging lists, reporting their ISP, death threats, nothing works.

I find the best way to protect agains't spam is not to give anyone cept people you trust with your email account..

And if you actively fight against it spammers will mail bomb you, send you hundreds of viruses and generally make your live very difficult. You have to remember that some people who send spam are criminals. There was an incident where spammers in Nigeria conned some people, and those people went to Nigeria to investigate. They met a sticky end.

I know. A current affairs programe did a report on scams and they brought this up. Pretty scary when you think about it, how the people who send you spam do this. I think the scam they run is when they pretend to be a son of a African king who was killed in a war, and you are one of the people who is to inherit his fortune. That style of scam.
