cnc_sage 0 Posted December 1, 2004 Hey, today in december the 1st. It's Romania's national holiday... It's like the 4th of July to the US. In 1918 at the end of WWI Transylvania, Basarabia and Bucovina have united with the rest of the country. You see, the political unity among romanians was finally achieved. Before WWI, Transylvania and Bucovina were under Austro-Hungarian rule, while Basarabia (the Moldavian Republic) was under Russian rule. First Basarabia united with Romania, then Bucovina and , finally, Transylvania on December the 1st. Despite that the Soviet Union took Basarabia and northern Bucovina in 1940. Romania still holds Transylvania. Share this post Link to post
