Whats the deal with the serious error??? I have been struggling with this since the latest patch!

 

I am running the following:

 

Gateway P4 3.0 Ghz

512 MB Ram

Radeon Pro 9600

 

The following is the error:

 

Technical Difficulty Error

Doesn't EA support this software any longer???

Could be millions of thing, what are you doing when you get the error?

 

EA don't support Generals/Zero Hour any more - they've never really supported the community properly.

Hmm...this is weird, I never received such error like that, before I mod my zero hour. And, when I got that kind of error since I mod zero hour, I ussualy able to fix it by repairing the codes because I do some mistakes when coding it.

 

And our computer specs is above me, hmm.....I don't know why lts of people have so much error.

 

Did you install any mod or mod your generals/zero hour?

Played for several years on a P3 450 w/ NVIDIA video... no problem.

 

Did not play for a long time... installed on newer PC w/ ATI video(above)... worked great.

 

Went to play online, applied patch, now I get "serious error" everytime at splash screen.

 

So I uninstalled and reinstalled with no patch... now locks up at various times during direct connect game, solo play, etc... Applied patch again... then I get "serious error" at splash screen.

 

It's an endless cycle!!! I have seen a lot of people complaining about this while researching the problem...but no solution.

I've gotten that error before, Serious Error crap. My cd drive WAS on the fritz, so I can understan. However, I've just built a new machine P4 3.2, 1.5 gig RAM, 2 80 gig SATA drives, 6600 GT vid card and I've gotten that error multiple times this week playing online. I played solo last night on an 8 player map with an AI on every spot and didn't have a single problem. I think it's EA's servers, but thats just me. Anyone have any real ideas?

I don't think online play has anything to do with it - unless u or ur opontnet is trying to cheat - then it might crash you to the desktop.

Gimme a break, if I'm trying to cheat in the game I deserve to have the thing blow up on me. No, there is no cheating here. I'm talking a pretty clean install of windows xp and generals then zero hour. I also get a Game Mismatch error too and I'm playing with my best friend against the AI. We've both got the same versions of ZH and were not cheating.

Well that's the only thing I can think that'd cause a crash while playing online if skirmish mode works normally.

1. installing the latest video drivers from www.ati.com

2. if you have any mods installed uninstall them

Have the latest drivers and no mods... still getting error and lock ups.

Never had this problem before patch. Even reinstalling game without patch doesn't help now.

 

I think the patch is bad for certian video cards or something.

 

Many have the same problem.

 

EA and Mark Skaggs could care less.

I have the same problem,i've downloaded and installed 1.04 patch and i can't start the game,serious error crap. I think there is some problem with 1.04 patch.

 

P.S. before downloading 1.04 patch,i've started the game and it reported to me that i have to download new update but it coudl not find the file. I went on official web site but there is no 1.04 patch,they r not even mentioning 1.04 patch. I've found the link for download here,downloaded and installed it and it's not working,can't even start the game. EA suck's big time,theyr making games long long time and they have same errors in every game.

 

In lotr they have d/c problem repeating from generals....and they can't solve it.My friend wrote them i bet they r using his ideas to fix their problems. Cheep bastards,for online game they r using p2p connection instead online server like Blizard.

If someone knows how to fix this problem tell me plz

If EA hasn't put it in its Generals Website yet, maybe they have to finish something up and forgot to remove the link

I went to my friends a wile ago, and right after he got the patch, he went to play online with me standing by (we alternate every week) and he recieved a similar if not the same error.

 

I, however have the solution. To see it, highlight all the "invisble" text below.

And if your comp hates you, then no one here has anything to say about it.

I think EAs made some serious errors with the latest patch, they are screwing themselves over with this. They should sell the roghts to C&C to Petroglph, or if not them, then Blizzard.

 

Quality work and EA dont fit in the same sentence.
