FTP problems.

Recommended Posts

Now usually I just use IE to access FTP and delete stuff copy stuff and all that...

Anyway ever since I installed that stupid friggin XP service pack 2 thing its really messed up my comp. Some programs don't work properly some don't work at all. And all this security stuff is messing lots of stuff up (like flash and CSS stuff offline.)

Anyway does the Service pack 2 have anything to do with FTP? Because of late I've been unable to logon on to ANY ftp site.

I used Mozilla it works fine, cept I can't delete or move anything in it.

And every FTP program I've used are crap and take to friggin long....

So yeah.... Help. :(

Using a browser for FTP will never be as good as dedicated FTP client. My favourite is SmartFTP, download a copy from http://www.smartftp.com

The good thing about SmartFTP is that it looks like Windows Explorer and its free

I would say that SP2 has changed the way IE handles FTP protocols due IE's crap security. Dump IE, use Firefox for browsing and something like SmartFTP for your FTP'ing needs ;)

Turn off the windows firewall in the Security Center and it might help.

FTPs slow? IE is possibly the worst and slowest thing you could possibly use to FTP things. I love Crystal FTP myself - it's nice and simple, but looks nice and has BUCKETS of features.

Servive Pack 2... *shudder* So many problems, so much crap, it has even less compatability than XP, & that is saying something.

& every bloody time i boot up my pc, "No firewall is turned on", despite the symbols next to that saying "Personal Firewall - Running", its making me go crazy...

yeah, I installed Service pack 2 and it really messed up my comp. But search Google and there are some Microsoft forums, post in there and you'll get an answer.
