Walls!

Like Strategy Center? Does it some kind of upgrade for buildings?? What about other factions??

Yeah like an upgrade. As for other factions, do the same you would to apply the walls to the American side, except alter the texturing and remappable areas to suit the side.

Okay, there's the actual placing of walls, then there's having graphics on a building, like with the Strategy Center. An upgrade for a specific building will most likely only enhance the armor/health. That is different to actually employing the Object (Faction)Wall.

 

On the other hand, maybe there's the possibility of an upgrade linked to an OCL that will place walls around the perimeter and completely seperate from the building (whilst allowing for units to get through & out without knocking them down first)?

It could be an upgrade similar to China's mines, seperate from the building but still an upgrade for it.

yes but in ZH walls wouldnt be as useful. they were useful in the past because enginners would capture your buildings in a second just by touching them(and Lotus captures in a different way,making an arc beam...above walls), but here capture rushes dont work well even without walls.

Place some snipers for example,inside your base,etc.Not even Super lotus makes it through. Unless you get killed the snipers(or sentry drones) which means the enemy already destroyed half of your base so you lost anyway...

Besides that,are time consuming, i never saw a wall built in competitive fights or tourneys in ra1(westwood online,gamespy), and in the 1st C&C only to make spider bases(a few,few times around Obelisks), and in even in TS ibarely saw those(even though were easier to build).THEN the ONLY reason for them to be would be to pay homage to the series, because here, walls would be even less used than they already were.

I find walls quite usefull in TS and RA2/YR - although I only play large games (not 1v1) that last quite some time.

If I were you I'd use the walls that already exist on the Strategy centre, this way you could use the anim etc, without too much work redoing several areas such as colours.

Interesting. I might look into that one. Thing is though, one would have to avoid the "scatter" factor like with the mines. Besides, I'm finding it hard enough to get around the "Conflicting Upgrade" when trying to put mines around my new Faction's Command Center. Or was I trying to apply it to a vehicle?

Yeah Thierry, you gotta add walls on your World Rebellion mod. Just like what Warmatt16 said, it pais homage to older C&C games.

I think wall will be available at WR mod, since Thierry looks so anxious when i discussed about the walls with him. Now, I'm trying to find the way to make gates in zero hour. In TS, making gates is easy, but at Zero Hour, it sounds impossible, and I like impossible things :)

There are small gates in Generals, you could probably make them bigger, instead of starting afresh.

Not that what he meant I think. He meant there is already some gate models. I know there are some, I saw 'em on some maps. Maybe I can do something about it to make it closing and opening. However, I don't think Zero Hour support the codes for the gates like in TS.
