Oh yeah Sonic how was the powercut the other day? hehehe its good living on the mainland.. ahh.... :lol:

Perfect time for a power cut :roll:, I was in the supermarket doing some shopping and when it went out, without power eftpos transactions can't be made so I put all the stuff I had back on the shelves and went home.

It was only off for just over an hour.

 

I made sure I went around and unplugged all the expensive stuff in our house though, the last power outage we had was Feb 04, when the power restored a massive surge fried our TV and Sky decoder big time!!

I wasn't taking any risks this time around

all electrical devices in my house are connected to a 8-12 outlet extension (i don't know what they're really called) that has surge protection. So all my devices are safe. we had a blackout here once, last summer, it affected entire NE US. No power for few days. Good thing our refigerator still kept things cold. The stores handed out free ice cream and ice cream cake though, because it was going to melt. yumy..

No electrical devices in our house are connected to surge protectors. However all British electrical devices are fitted with fuses in the power cable. I should really buy one for our computer but we've never had a surge, and the last power cut was years ago!

The lightening didn't strike my house, it must have hit the cable under the street or something and sent a surge that fried the STB.

LMAO, last night I was at the chippie when they had a powercut - ironic that I had just said that we haven't had one in ages (the cut didn't affect my house though, so technically it doesn't count. More importantly, my burger still go cooked
