Well first of all, is that 130 USD? I assume so, since you are a friend of GeneralZ's. Secondly, what do you intend to do with the card? Is it just for gaming, and how able are you when it comes to computers (can you handle problems well)?

u mean the ATI 9250 jahn.... which i told u about....yeah he needs it to play games like Halo, Halflife 2, Call of Duty and maybe Generals.

He tells me he;ll get Generals when he gets the new video card.

any shopping he does will probably be done at Bestbuy.....need to check their prices

Nvidia 6800GT is the best 6600GT is Second if you want to save $ get the plain 6600 (non GT), 256 is nice to have for furute games but im still playing games on 64MB GeForce4.

If you want cards from the previous generation go the Radeon 9800 or 9600, stay away from the Geforce FX series. But in newer cards Nvidia takes the lead again and has support for never features that the Radeon seies doesn't.

For 130 US$ u can defenetly get a better card than a 256mb ati radeon 5250 or a nvidia 5500!

They both suck big time.

i suggest like Hans5849 sayd spend a tad more and get your selfe sorted out with a decent graphix card.

Good cards for a tight budget:

GeForce 6600 128MB AGP: around 120 bux

GeForce 6600 GT 128MB AGP: around 150 bux, but a lot faster for 30 $ extra

Radeon 9600 XT 128MB: around 110 bux

Radeon 9800SE 128MB/ 9800: around 110 bux but can be modded to a 9800pro which is a lot faster than the se.

I recomend getting a 6600gt 128mb, that card is as fast as the 9800pro, but is a better card for the future a card that lasts a while thats what counts.

seriously... my 9600 GT cost just under 250 USD.

you can buy a 9800 pro for $126 at newegg that card is SOOOOO much faster than those crappy 5250 or a nvidia 5500's

other options:

9600 pro 256 mb $103

9800 se 128mb $106

i dunno if these prices are inc. tax but u can check it out ur self @ www.newegg.com

so my recomendation: get a 9800pro 128mb (the cheapest 1 of the lot) or spend a bit more and get the cheapest 6600gt

@ BWare i dont know if u mean a 6600gt or a 9600pro but MAN u overpayd your graphics card! where did you get it? for $250 u could have a x800 or a 6800! thats like more than 1.5 times the spead!

I had a 9800pro b4 and i have a 6800gt @ ultra now, man thats over 2x the speed

well, it was a while ago, and it included Best Buy's extended warranty... which means that if it's damaged in any way, for any reason, they will replace it with a card of equivalent value. It's a 6600 GT

I really dont mean to resseruct an older topic, but I recently purchased ATI 9800 All in Wonder 128MB. I was not so sure about spending more money on my card than I did on my processor, but I have fallen in love with this card. I used to be a Nvidia freak, but this is an awesome card. I can watch TV, record TV, absoluetly stunning graphics, and so many more functions I have yet to use.

I spent $239 on this card, got it from Newegg (shipped in two days) and instaleld it, and it works great, it runs a little hot, but some BGA ram sinks and some fans make it just fine. I give this card 11 out of 10 stars. Its expensive yes, but there is no comparison to cheaper cards when it comes to functionability and quality.

i personally am a nvidia freak because there is a nvidia chip in the xbox

i heard some great stuff about the 9800, but does the computer lag somewhat?

what kind of games make your video card heat up a little?

thanks for the input

pleasant gaming

What kind of port do you have? Although most cards come in all port sizes and kinds, it is helpful to know.

I reccommend the ATi Radeon 9000 Pro 64Mb card. I have a Radeon X300 LE 256MB PCI Express card, and it works fine. Check ebay and you can get a pretty good card for $100 or so.

There's a 9800 Pro and a 9800 All In Wonder Pro. I have the AIW. It gets hot when you try to run demanding programs, such as graphic editing, or when you run games, I've only had it about 2 weeks, World of Warcraft made it heat up a bit.

I threw a couple copper BGA sinks on it, and it wont over heat now. I dont blame ya for likin Nvidia, I like em too, buying this All In wonder was a total impulse sort of thing, lucky me, I like it. Go with what you like, if you want Nvidia, get it. Dont regret not getting what you wanted.
