Idea for mod: Australia vs Indoneasia

Yeah the mod i was starting had a similar storyline with australia vs indonesia as relations between the two countries are not very good (thats why the government gave them that massive ammount of money after the tsunami) I had the unit list for the australian side done and 2 possible generals. The unit list was very different to what you had planed as our army is not that weak and we dont just have light tanks we run upgraded M1A1 Abrams. Australia also uses the Tiger Eurocopter (the one in the 007 movie goldeneye) not the apache.

 

As for the generals i was planning to have a special forces general as thats what the Australian army specialises in as the SASR are the most advanced special forces regiment in the world (we have to specialise in this as we have a small population compared to the rest of the world).

 

I was thinking of adding the New Zealand Army in but as they would be allied with Australia anyway i thought it may be better to add them as an Australian General so it would be the ANZAC forces again. Although im not sure if they would be balanced as they lack units like jets. But if someone wants to add them and can think of a way to ensure they arnt at too much of a disadvantage id like to hear it

Well Harrier Jump Jets are going pretty cheap, I've heard rumours that they might get some for us....so maybe if this was set a few years down the track, you could implement them into the mod. I'm sure that our government will get us a strike force again. We badly need one. No point in training pilots if they're just going to be used for flying Hercules transport planes.

 

And I think it should be something along the lines of ANZACs vs Indonesia. Though if that were to be the case, who would the third side be?

Ah okay. So we would have Abrams and Eurocopters for Australia, maybe some of the units I mentioned as well (replace the Ranger's M16 with a Styer Aug, light tanks, APCs). That would call into question what units Indonesia might have. Could they have some ex Soviet hardware maybe?

Yes, and maybe have a commando squad who would be the SAS, who...this is only guesswork at what they are like, would have a machine gunner, a grenadier, a medic, ect like most units around the world would, but would be more akin to Colonel Burton or Hero units in terms of how good they are, not just basic infantry.

I looked up aircraft for New Zealand and found they had no military planes. Maybe they could use the F-111 (F-4) and Australia the FA-18.

Harrier jets are becoming cheap? That comes as a surprise, given their uniqueness. But certainly it could be set a little into the future to allow not just technological advances but political ones as well.

Definetly, definetly, if terrorists learned of it they would have a field day. Why bomb New Zealand? Remember Bali? One tactic I believe terrorists could implement is to show that you are not safe by not living in America, or Britain, or somewhere that would have terrorist targets.

Well if the mod comes to pass I think the most likely route would be USA would be changed to Australia and China to Indonesia. If a third side was to be implemented how about changing GLA to Jimar Islamiah?

Hehe, it's an idea, right? :wink: Gotta at least give the RNZAF something that'll make 'em worthwhile again. And Harriers, although unique, are slowly becoming commonplace, because technological advances will eventually give other fighter jets what the Harrier was designed for: A full-service, cost effective fighter jet that can fully take off vertically, and land vertically, without any fuel hassles.

 

*crosses his fingers* I just hope that it happens in real life as well. Then I'll have an excuse to be a pilot..

 

Our Army and our Navy are our real strengths. The Maori Battalions that were feared during WWI and WWII are still feared today. And our Battleships, while few and far between in our Navy, are hopefully going to increase in number, and our actions during the Pacific have already earnt us a valuable reputation. So we're not that useless.

 

Maybe have a Maori Battalion Commando as the ANZAC's hero unit?

But I'm all for the Harrier idea for an airforce unit. Definatly the Abrams and Eurocopters, and the Styer Aug's, Light Tanks (Scorpians? :lol: We've got a couple of those...lol) and an APC of some sort.

Yeah i would be willing to help make it happen. as for the harrier thing im not sure why the NZ millitary would be looking at them for the future. They utilise direct lift for the VTOL capabilities which is very unstable even with all the computers controling it. There ment to be 5 times more likely to crash on landing. However depending on when the mod would be set australia is planning on getting rid of the f-111 and f-18 when the JSF is complete. It will be replacing them as we were on the design board for it. so i guess the NZ airforce could consist of ex-Australian jets. To balance up their age you could make them cheaper or something

 

As for the special forces general it wouldnt consist of just SAS as we have other commando regiments. The SAS is more of a covert style so they could be like hero units or a general ability like in the Call To Arms mod if anyone has played that.

 

so basicly the special forces general would be more focused on better infantry, transport choppers and light vechicles and would not be able to build tanks. thats just a thought

Hey, things could happen mate. Ya never know. And we've got some pretty skilled engineers over here..so hopefulyl with combined research the Harrier with live up to it's VTOL capabilities.

Yeah the point i was trying to make is that if the NZ millitary is after a fighter they probably will want one which dosnt have a higher probablility of crashing and loosing the plane as their ammount of whatever aircraft they decide to get would be low anyway. The harrier wouldnt be the best choice for a fighter role anyway as it is far to slow and isnt very manouverable.

 

But yes i agree we need to to get the ideas down before they get forgotten. We also need to work out what skills we have available to us at this stage so we know what we can do to start off. I can code.

 

As for the NZ scorpian tanks that makes things interestion as the indonesians also use scorpian tanks. Tracking down what the indonesians use is seeming to be difficult. I have found that they have bought the majority of there stuff in the last 10 years from the UK but im not sure if they make up the majority of there millitary or not

I have been away for awhile and i was just wondering if anyone is still interested in this mod. I have been comming up with some ideas for the storyline that would fit it in with the generals storyline but still keep the origional teams out of the main storyline (but maybe a few possible appearences). As for the harrier thing i think you may be right about NZ looking at buying them. I heard something about the US marines may be selling some harrier 2's to the NZ airforce.

I bring some idea for Indonesian faction:

 

Infantry:

- KOPASSUS

it stand for Komando Pasukan Khusus or we know it as SAS, the infantry design with red barret, and can do an instant kill with Knive attack. They have some muscle and strength, remembering that they are well trained under heavy training. They bring M4A2.

- Indonesian Brimob

they are look alike American pathfinder, at past 10 years, in 1990 or something, there are alot of ppl that called "petrus" or mysterious sniper. So, they are pretty scary, even for Indonesian it self.

- Dukun Santet

lately, the Dukun Santet become notorious in Indonesia. They have an ability like Yuri, "mind control" they can control enemy's infantry and a number of tank (the tank driver is a human too,,, right?)

- Terrorist

You know...

- Indonesian Intelligence

They just like a sabotageur, and thay can hack internet... See, Indonesia became notorious of it Cyber crime.

- Tank hunter

 

and so on

 

For the vehicle.

- Moto squad

they act like GLA motor squad, with Kopassus riding on it.

- Scorpion Tank

I doubt that Indonesia have this such tank.

- APV

- I have no idea.... LOL

 

For the plane

- Sukhoi (Su Flanker)

they just bought some from Rusia....

- Hercules (what can I say....)

it can transport infantries and do a para-dropping.

- Puma Heli

It act like Cina's helis.

 

For the super weapon is weather manipulator just like one on Red Alert.

 

For the tech tree (science-general ability):

- Terrorist spawn

- Money corrupt --> steal 5k (min) dollar from enemy's comand center, and 15k (max).

Theres some good ideas there but a few i dont think would be very good.

This seams a bit unimaginative nowdays as it has been overused and would end up turning to storyline into a RA2 copy

Im not sure if you ment this as the standard infantry for the indonesian side or something different. I think the idea for the indonesian side was to have their standard infantry relativle weak e.g. Chinese Red Guard.

sounds interesting. May be a bit overpowerd though.

 

For the super weapon is weather manipulator just like one on Red Alert.

i think its a bit too futuristic especially for indonesia in the generals timeperiod.

Insted on having them Russian we could say that they are an Indonesian design based off of Russian designs. This would give them more of their own millitary.

I doubt that Indonesia have this such tank.

They do actually have this tank though its different to the GLA one

I have a possible Australian unitlist. These dont include NZ as its a modifiefied version of the one that i started the first time back in april. This isnt a complete list just something that the side could be based around. I also left out some of special abilities that we could give them.

 

Infanty

- Standard Infantry

Standard basic infantry. Like the Ranger but with the styer etc

- Rocket Infantry

again basicly an Australian version of the Rocket infantry

- Sniper

like the pathfinder

- Trooper X (Hero Unit)

The Hero unit. A SAS soldier. I was thinking make him be able to switch between a sniper and Rocket Launcher and have an ability of being able to sabotage vechicle weapons but im not sure of how that would be coded as i have never tried something like that before. The name of the unit comes from the strict code of silence on any member of our SASR and Trooper X is often used in interviews.

 

Vechicles

- ASLAV (Australian Standard Light Armored Vechicle)

This is the one i had mostly coded. Similar armor to a Gattling Tank. capable of transporting infantry and amphibious. I used a modified commanche chain gun for its weapon as they are similar.

 

- Bushmaster

like a Ambulance crossed with a Troopcrawler. Transports and heals Infantry and has propaganda bonus

 

- Tanks

I was origionaly thinking of using the Leapord 1 as the standard tank and having the Modified Abrams as a generals point like the crusader and palidin. But it might be better if we add a few made up units to keep with the Generals theme and it would fit the storyline better as we would be isolated from the US and Europe and would have to make our own designs like when Australia was isolated in WW2

 

- Dozer

One of the ASLAV varients is an ASLAV hull with a crane attached insted of the turret so that would make a good dozer

 

Aircraft

- Tiger ARH

similar to the Commanche except with a much stronger cannon.

 

- MRH-90

Transport Chopper with stealth capability.

 

- JSF

All purpose aircraft like the mig. Not equiped with VTOL capability like other JSF's though
