copritis 0 Posted August 29, 2005 I did exactly what the guidelines said for this http://www.cncnz.com/features/tech/raxpfix.shtml for installing RA1 I went to the "setup.exe" hit properties, clicked on the box and hit windows 95. I just did that one, and i tried to install, but it says Install Wizard will prepare you to guide you through installation, then I get an error that says, You are running windows 5.1. This is a windows 95 product. Then it quits, it doesn't install, it doesnt even get to the install wizard program. Anyone know what the problem I have here? I am running XP, and I have no idea why it said I am running windows 5.1, do i have a virus? I looked in all the folders and saw that they could also be changed to windows 95 thru properties. Should I do that? Any advice would be great. Share this post Link to post
Saracen 16 Posted August 29, 2005 follow the instructions again, but make sure in the the compatibility settings you click "apply" before clicking "OK"... there should be no reason why this should not work. Share this post Link to post
copritis 0 Posted August 29, 2005 I did apply before hitting okay. I'm staring at this right now at the instructions for the past hour, thinking of what I am doing wrong. My eyes will start burning soon if I keep this up. I saw this in another thread, will this help? --> http://ra.afraid.org:90/archive/utilities/...anager_0.98.exe And just to re-clarify, its just the "setup.exe" that shows up once you hit explore cd. Because i see other setup.exe files in other folders, I havent touched them but i noticed that there not boxed with windows 95 selected. I'm thouroughly confused. Share this post Link to post
Cygnus X-1 12 Posted August 29, 2005 hmm....get the win95 patch, then try an install with compatability set to win95 Share this post Link to post
Kirouk 0 Posted August 30, 2005 Check the guide here: http://www.planetcnc.com/features/techtroopers/classicsinxp/ You may have a problem with the type of drive you are trying to install from, also. If you are trying to install from a DVD drive, it may not work. If you have a second cd drive, try it. Another problem may be if you are running SP2 for Windows XP. Share this post Link to post
