Tacticle shooter idea

You know all those games such as Counterstrike and Rainbow Six where you rescue hostages? I decided to turn the idea on it's head and play as a hostage (actually just an unarmed soldier) and have the computer controlled teammates protect me through the hostile area. I thought it was quite fun, and was wondering if there are any games with a similar idea.

That would be fun for a while. But after a while I reckon you'd grow tired of hiding everywhere and hoping like hell your stupid AI guardians don't accidently shoot you in the head.... Like all stupid AI bots...

 

But yeah it would be fun, for a while.

Sounds a bit like VIP mode in Counterstrike where you just have double armour and a USP.

 

A group of modders is bringing it to Counterstrike Source.

There was a good reason why VIP mode is not in the source version as it was not realy good. The idea could work if you made it like metal gear solid where you had to escape from the hostage takers and use stealth and cunning to escape from the buliding/area.

You could make a mutiplayer mode where one side are the hostages trying to escape and use a third person mode and with the other side being the terrorists that have to recapture/kill them but they use a first person view.

The thing about Counterstrike is that people tend to just play it as just another form of Deathmatch game... team tactics etc go out of the window. On many public servers you have to remind people about planting the bomb or rescuing the hostages!

 

VIP mode was one of those things that needed good teamwork as it was so easy to "lose" your VIP if you didn't defend him well.

 

I'm looking forward to it being made for Source.

You've definately been playing the VIP mode far too much there, Leang. :wink: It sounds like an idea though. You could be captured, and then somehow manage to get free, trying to escape your captors and alert the appropriate authorities. Care to elaborate ideas further?
