The M1A2 uses depleted uranium in the armor. It is far stronger but also lighter than conventional armor

Yeah... tanks are kinda heavy, you know?

Also, they do actually have a layer of depleted uranium armor.

EDIT: Haha, good one alphabear. Beat me to it

Also, the M1A2 can keep its barrel perfectly level while travelling 60 mph over nearly any terrain. I'd like to see an amphibious POS do that... :P

I'd like to see an M1A2 make an Amphibious assult on its own ;)

Also DP. UR isnt lighter than normal armour. You can get away with using less thats all ;) its the same strengh but your using much less. If you used the same amount of DP. UR as say Kevlar or Titanium then the tanks would weigh 2x to 3x as much ;)

doesn't war usually change a soldier's mental well-being? the things you see there- they must be horrendous, especially if you were assigned to active duty in combat. where in iraq were you stationed? were you in any battles? what rank are you (out of curiosity)?

You have officers driving LAVs? or are you a crew commander?

I got to have a play in the Lav25s in Bosnia, but they would let us drive cos us Kiwis were too rugged!

NZ recently bought us some LAVIIIs, next gen, not amphib though. Awesome fun to drive. Great little things, although some of the old light infantry dogs dont like the change to being mounted.

By trade I am a Artillery Forward Observer Ack, and Ive used it quite a few times to call in fire. Awesome tools, the thermal is so impressive, especially watching the bombs explode. By day, arty looks kind of dull, but thru Thermal, you see all the shrapnel and really notice how much damage it does.
