TheBlackOut 7 Posted May 4, 2006 I was bored and read up on some of the threats that Texans(Other states have them, but they are big in Texas) have to deal with... I have seen countless of the spiders called the "Brown Recluses" but thought nothing of it really, but I did avoid them. Well, I've read into them and I knew they love dark spots, which our shed I use a lot is, now I always put a light in there for about 10 minutes before I go in. (They say 30 mins but I don't got the time.) Look at what these little spiders can do! http://www.brown-recluse.com/bitephotos.html And I thought a Black Widow was bad... Share this post Link to post
BWare 0 Posted May 4, 2006 Yikes! Man that's creepy... Here in Florida we have PLENTY of spiders, but they typically aren't too dangerous. They're massive though, and the aquatic ones look incredibly bizarre. Back in California, we had to worry about black widows... yikes. Now THOSE were some scary spiders  Share this post Link to post

Azrael 0 Posted May 4, 2006 Oh, God... It sent me cowering... At least we dn't have poisonous spiders in Davao... I liked spiders as pets, but that... God, I'm so scared... Anyway, more data of the Brown Recluse in Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brown_Recluse Share this post Link to post

TheBlackOut 7 Posted May 4, 2006 The link just goes back to my topic...? Is it suppose to do that? Had one almost bite my cat just now, but she killed it.. Good God I was about the just hit her for getting in its way! If it can do that stuff to a human, it'd kill a pet. Share this post Link to post
Alphabear 11 Posted May 5, 2006 Not necessarily. The sydney funnel web which is considered by many to be the most dangerous spider can kill a human in 15 minutes. however its venom does practically nothing to dogs and cats. The venom is specially designed for primates. Share this post Link to post
BWare 0 Posted May 5, 2006 Man, that is interesting. Mother nature is a maaaaaaaaad scientist! (Seinfeld quote, for those of you old enough to appreciate ) Share this post Link to post
Alphabear 11 Posted May 5, 2006 Yeah there definatly not something you want biting you. their fangs can penetrate fingernails and soft shoes and they attack with enough force that their fangs which are a few cms long become stuck meaning you have to pull the spider off. Share this post Link to post
Luk3us 63 Posted May 5, 2006 Another reason not to live in Aussie... Spiders, snakes, croc's, Aussies... Its just not worth it... Share this post Link to post
