You misrepresented the Bible there dude. Jesus wasn't talking about foreign policy- he was talking about personal attitudes and our own souls. The Bible really shouldn't be taken out of context like that.

Plus, we're talking about 2 kinds of *respect. (Yet another problem with semantics...)

They DO deserve respect in that they're capable of doing us damage- they should be respected to that extent.

However, they don't deserve respect beyond that. That is, I have nothing but disdain and disgust for Kim Jong Il and his evil government- no respect.

and it was the second kind that I was talking about; I get your point though, King

But yes, not respecting their enemy Hannibal when they outnumbered him 4 to 1 cost the Romans the massacre (not even a battle, he beat them so bad) of Cannae  I dunno, just felt like letting you know that...my random fact of the day

When things go nuclear, it's a whole new ball game. And the only route to consider at this time is diplomacy. While the fear certainly rains down on a possible attack towards the US, it's south Korea and Japan that have to be the most concerned at this point. South Korea's reasons need no introduction they have a history. And japan is the same, and they know what nukes are like. But since it's home to a large US Naval base as well, it's kinda unsettling.

The UN is a joke, I bet they've done nothing since the nuclear test but sit around a table coming to no clear cut conclusions other than the fact that North Korea is a very bad little boy indeed. I do not need say anymore than that.

One thing you have to realise is that this is not Iraq. Yes they have WMD, and they've shown their might to the world. Going in there and givin' them hell? I'm sure Bush would love to do that, but it's just not possible or anywhere as easy as that.

This is a cold war situation as it stands. Sure we're not up against Russia, but these bastards are crazy sons of a bitches and they know what they're doing. Kicking their front door in will give them a valid reason to retaliate as strongly as they feel is necessary. And if their old ally China (even if they're unsure) wants to lend a hand, it's more than likely that some sort of suffering could occur.

Hence why diplomacy has to be at the top of the agenda now. As much as NATO countries wouldn't like to admit it, North Korea now stands as a nation that has to be feared, but also respected. But something has to be done quickly, the more time that's left wondering what should be done, the more time NK can build more weapons into their arsenal, thus increasing the threat level even further.

But what can I say, for the last 12 or more months the world has seen this coming, and no doubt other governments had more warning than that. Had they done anything apart from get on their knees and beg NK not to do this? No, they haven't really. I keep saying the word diplomacy, but when you think about it, NK has made sure it's fallen on deaf ears.

Everyone might as well call in the cleaners to visit a few silos, they need dusting off ready for that possibiliy, that if, if, any allied nation is attacked, the defcon goes up and we'll be threatening nuclear war as a sheer last resort. As extreme as it sounds, there's always that consideration in the back of leader's minds. But let's all pray to god that we don't have another Cold War, the last one was painful enough!

When things go nuclear, its game over for all of us. Period. End of story.

Their Nuke wasnt very large either, less than one megaton. Similar to a tactical nuke in power

well, they're certainly not going to hold back their development :?

I still say we should disarm them; they may not be psychotic maniacs like the Iranians, but they're not a safe country to be possessing nukes
