BoMbFuNk.Mc 0 Posted December 24, 2003 i have had this game since it came out really, no problems seeing as i've had generals, this one worked fine. until now. my problem is the game itself, i run it on the lowest reg, lowest 3d stuff and that as low as it can go basically. but when in-game at the start my pc is quite fast, then later in the game, about 2-3 enemy AI defeated, my game starts to slow down and skip when scroling. i do not know what is causeing this, at first i thought it was that new patch from EA online thingy, so i roled back the game to before the patch, i still had the same problem. i then thought the game must be currupted, so i then un-installed both general's games, and then installed them once more, and still the problem persists on generals zero-hour. my spec is as follows: AMD athlon XP 2000+ 1.67 GHz 512 MB of RAM 38.2 GMG Hard drive 52 Speed CD drive Geforce4 MX440 64 MB DirectX version 9.0b please can you reply to my message stating the solution to it :] thanx :] Share this post Link to post

osey 2003 0 Posted December 26, 2003 Could* be your graphics card geforce 2 is old and dosent refresh very fast that could be why you get the stuttering but to be honest it happens to me aswel but not very bad but i can notice a little bit of speed drop in how quick the game is though the framerate dosent drop i think it could either be your Geforce 2 MX or the Sage Engine (the engine that runs Generals/Zerohour) may have a few performance flaws. If you both have similar hardware thats probobaly why you both are faceing the same slowdown problems my GeForce FX 5950 dosnt even hicup at all but just a little speed drop thats all good luck! Sonic 295 Posted December 27, 2003 Download and install the latest NVIDIA Forceware Drivers for your video card. You will find them on http://www.cncnz.com/files/support/drivers.shtml Share this post Link to post

Guest Skeeter Posted December 27, 2003 We've got the same problem. Nearly same configuration. Latest patch. That really makes me wonder if EA pacific thinks twice or at least enough before releasing a patch. Play only one match. When you attempt to play another one, the trouble begins. Only solution for that is restarting your machine WHATEVER match type you play (LAN, skirmish,...) On LAN game we found that performance had significanly increased if you connect with Direct Connection mode. Share this post Link to post
Guest The Person Posted December 27, 2003 I have the same problem and have been seeing many others post the same problem who are running very similar systems. Sonic 295 Posted December 28, 2003 Ok first things first. Are you guys using the version 1.01 patch for Zero Hour? If so grab the v1.02 patch from http://www.cncnz.com/files/zero_hour/patches.shtml A few problems were fixed in the quick released. Install it and see what happens, you have nothing loose. Next thing, both the NVIDIA ForceWare v53.03 for Windows XP/2000 and the NVIDIA ForceWare v53.04 for Windows 95/98/ME have been released. You will be able to download them from http://www.cncnz.com/files/support/drivers.shtml ATI users should probably install either ATI Catalyst v3.10 Driver Suite for Windows XP/2000 or ATI Catalyst v3.10 Driver Suite for Windows 98/ME. Again this files are available from http://www.cncnz.com/files/support/drivers.shtml Share this post Link to post
Guest Posted December 28, 2003 i did not realise there was another patch after .1, im downloading this now to see if it makes any difference. Share this post Link to post
BoMbFuNk.Mc 0 Posted December 28, 2003 nope, no difference :] keep your solutions comming though that patch kind of prolonged the lagging game for a bit by the way. thats all it did really. so if the game starts running smoothly, then gets all clogged up, would that indicate that maybe a certain unit, building, infantry unit is causeing the lag? anyways im sure someone'll find whats wrong sooner or later... Guest Bliss Posted December 29, 2003 Just bought ZH today and i also have the same problem PC Spec Athlon 2.6ghz Nvidia GeForce FX 5200 512MB RAM Direct X 9 Hope a fix comes soon, as its a really annoying problem Share this post Link to post
Guest Posted December 29, 2003 These symptoms sound like a memory bleed. This occurs when a program uses memory and then fails to reallocate it to free space, slowly taking up more and more RAM until it is all used up and then Windows has to use virtual memory (a section of your hard drive set aside to use like RAM) which is FAR slower than your RAM. Unfortunately, this is a problem with the software itself, which would have to be addressed by the developers. Share this post Link to post

Guest Debaser Posted January 8, 2004 My friend and I have similiar computers... Intel 2.6Ghz 1GIG ram SBLive 5.1 Radeon 9700 Pros Cable modem internet access *we have all our drivers up to date, everything is fine, we aren't noobs....every other game we have works fine. When we play a direct connect over the internet and play as a team, we can play against 3 CPU players, but if we add a 4th, the game starts fine, but then slows to a crawl after 5-10 minutes. This has to be taken care of....any other ideas? Share this post Link to post
SilentAssasin 0 Posted January 19, 2004 i have the same problem, with the stuttering. it started after i reformatted my computer. Before the reformat i had 1.02 patch and the game was running smoothly. i have tried everything , new drivers, rolling back the drivers, directx but can't seem to fix it. i emailed EA and got this: "Hello, Thank you for contacting Electronic Arts technical support. I'm sorry you're having that trouble with the game, but there are some things we can do to correct it. The latest patch for Zero Hour is actually 1.02, which you can get here: http://www.eagames.com/official/cc_general...mos.jsp?state=6 You'll want to make sure that you have the latest drivers for your hardware, as well as the current version of DirectX. DirectX is available from Microsoft's site: http://www.microsoft.com/directx Click on their links for DirectX 9.0b run-time, follow the directions to download the update, and then double-click on the update after it's downloaded to run it. Video and Sound drivers will be available on the manufacturer's website. Some common manufacturer's websites: ATI, for RADEON and RAGE cards: http://www.ati.com/support/driver.html nVidia, for GeForce cards: http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp Creative Labs, for Sound Blaster cards: http://www.americas.creative.com/support/ For other video and sound cards you may have to search the Internet for the manufacturer's website. After downloading the driver package, you need to double-click it to run the installation of the drivers. You should also make sure that you have closed any programs or tasks running in the background as sometimes one of the programs can conflict with the game. Background applications such as anti-virus programs are often the cause of conflicts. For Windows 95/98/ME: · Hold the Ctrl and Alt keys down at the same time and hit the Delete key once. · Single Click on each Program in the list and Click "End Task". · The only two applications that you want listed here before installing or running the game are "explorer" and "systray". · You will need to repeat this process after closing each application. For Windows XP: · Hold down the Ctrl, Alt, and Delete keys at the same time · Click the "Processes" tab. · Click on the gray bar in the middle column that says User Name to sort by user name. · Do NOT select anything for SYSTEM, LOCAL SERVICE, or NETWORK SERVICE. · Click on anything besides EXPLORER and TASKMGR for this User Name or other user names. · Click on END PROCESS · Repeat these steps until only explorer.exe and taskmgr.exe are open for this user profile. Note that some applications may take multiple times before closing. Don't worry that you are permanently changing your system configuration; these applications will return when you restart your system. Try the game again at this point, and see if those updates correct the issue. If the trouble persists, or some new error appears, I'm going to need some more system information to troubleshoot your issue. Can you send me the information from a program called dxdiag? To do this: · Go to Start -> Run. · In the box, type the following: dxdiag · Click "OK" · Click the "Save All Information" button on the first screen of the application. · Then on top of the "Save As" box that pops up, select Desktop (if it's not set to save there already), then click Save. · Finally, attach the dxdiag.txt to your email reply. After we receive this file we can continue troubleshooting the issues at hand and hopefully come to a solution. Thank you for contacting Electronic Arts Online Support, Frank L. EA Technical Support " So far i still cannot fix it, any ideas on solutions would be most welcome Specs Athlon Xp 2400+ 512 DDR pc2700 Geforce 3 TI 200 Epox 8KHA+ 80gb 7200rpm seagate AC' 97  Share this post Link to post
Guest Posted January 23, 2004 simple, you play, and play, and your video card gets hot. turn off your computer, let it cool down, and start again. After using so many resources, this is normal. Share this post Link to post

SilentAssasin 0 Posted January 24, 2004 i think i have found a solution to the problem. install C&C generals, then Zero Hour, then Zero Hour 1.02 patch Do NOT install any of the C&C Generals Patches (1.07 etc), this was causing my problem, hope it helps by the way don't email EA support , they talk **** and always say "Update drivers", even when the lastest drivers where making the problem worse. In the end i was the one who fixed my problem not the support p.s you have got to be kidding about the video card heating problems, mine is water cooled, sits at like 25 degrees, so i don't think that is the problem Share this post Link to post
