ive seen this game around, heard really good things, and witnessed an enticing commercial..

 

so, have any of you played it?

what do you think?

 

and WHAT THE HELL is the name of the song they used for the commercial i love it..?

Gears of War is simply put "brilliant". Its the most popular game on Xbox Live, taking over from Halo 2. Its the Xbox 360's first true next-gen game.

 

I got a copy of the Gears of War Collectors Edition last week, its everything I expected it would be. Great graphics, awesome gameplay, single player is great fun and of course multiplayer is excellent to. I played in a few games the other night (thanks to free weekend of Xbox Live Gold in NZ), great fun, I was getting my ass totally kicked but I was still enjoying the game.

 

The song used the Gears of War commercial is called "Mad World", originally written and performed by Tears for Fears in 1983, the GOW version is an updated cover by by Gary Jules. The song can be found on the soundtrack to the movie Donnie Darko.

Yeah its a bit short in the single player but a lot games are these days are. Crank up the difficulty level and the AI feels a bit long because you have work even hard to get through all fire fights.

 

 

As for the AI, I've only seen once instance of my AI team make being in the wrong place at the wrong time, I actually thought it was funny seeing him get trampled by this big Berserker creature in the game.

 

Trust me there are only a few minors things about Gears of War that should interfere with your decision to buy it.

Nothing like that, your just a human, a well trained soldier with an arsenal of guns and your squad mates.

 

One of the guns has chainsaw on the end, chop your enemy in half right down the middle. Check out this video here

to put it short, the game will scare the f*ck out of you with how simply billiant it is......the bezerker part had me sweating....the game for me felt like RE4 but with out the slow pace....its fast, very fast paced.....a few minor things like the damn squad ai running in front me resulting in them getting shot to hell...but its a very minor bug in a overall great game......online the few times ive tried it is awesome...i ended up getting my arse handed to me in all the games i played..but if you get tired of getting pwnd you can always hook up with a buddy on xbl and play the campaign.

Yes we've all heard that before but trust me, with Microsoft pumping in the money and marketing the game to the public, Gears of War (and any future Gears games) will not be ported to any other console.

Yeah I will agree that one day GOW could be released for PC, but never for PS3 and Wii.
