C&C3 Decision Time: Kane Edition or Standard Edition

Recommended Posts

Guest Rabbit

And ya know, we all have our own opinions. A lot of people say that the game does look like a C&C, a lot say it doesn't. Now, I come from a biased position in that I've played the game before, so, I have more evidence to support myself, but the true way for the rest of you guys to find out is to play it yourself.

Just two more months. :wink:

in 30 years, Tiberium cant spawn under the ocean and create big moughts that spit toxic gas and create giant floating spiders that kill everything in their path!

O wait, it did :wink:

and it perfectly can again. Remember, EA is in charge of the cannon, and they do posses the C&C Bible, so its NOT in our hands. Sure we can complain and try to change things, but overall, they are in control. Now accept that or dont, but either way, this new game is looking goooooood 8)

*sigh* Not to me, it is looking very non-C&C-like as it did with non-C&C Generals. :?

not the Generals thing again.....Generals is C&C, but not in the Tiberian Storyline. Wether EA chooses to continue it later or not is up to them (althoguh I dont htink they will)

Either way, bugs in the SAGE engine were worked out before the engine was used for a "true" C&C, so at least be happy with that. I happen to like how TW is looking, and will accept it as C&C, because thats what it is. EA owns the franchise, and they arent dumb enough to bow down to everyfan's wishes. Everyone who's played it already has said its good, and damn, it looks good.

Back on Topic...

In Sydney my local 'EB Store' and their competitor the 'Games Wizards' are now offering pre-orders on C&C3.

EB have the bonus pre-order disc, and pre-order boxes on their shelves, and page 7 of the latest brochure (Jan 07) features our fav RTS.

The magazine ad says the following:-

Kane edition is strictly limited and contains the following extra features:-

* limited stock & numbered

* 5 exclusive maps

* 3 exclusive unit skins (1 per faction)

* "Behind the Lines" making-of video

* Deleted Scenes

* Blooper reel

* 5 Strategy videos

Selling for AUD$99.95

(I forgot to ask about the standard edition but I expect it will be AUD$89.95 as per usual.)

Gameswizards had no boxes on the shelf when i visited, but they had just received a delivery - so it might have still to be unpacked. EB offered the bonus disc for pre-orders. It was not offered at Gameswizards, but I didn't ask. They did say whatever EB was offering they would match.

The boxart for the Kane edition in the EB brochure was "PC DVD ROM (only DVD compatible)" so if you don't have a DVD drive and you want the Kane edition I suggest you double-check it's available in CD-ROM... as all the videos might only be available in DVD - unless they include that stuff on a seperate disc:

yeah... unlikely!

Anyway I pre-ordered my copy, release date is confirmed as March.

edit: Just got off the phone, and funnily enough I have ordered the CD version, and the guys are telling me there is no DVD version. In their system it's listed as a "collector's edition" and not the "Kane Edition" for anyone interested in the really *minor* details...

edit#2: just noticed that EB have the release date listed as 26th March on the inside back cover??? Which is a Monday - that's strange.

Yeah i preorderd the kane edition the other day at an EB in Brisbane. The Kane Edition costs exactly the same as the standard one however there is a much smaller supply of the kane edition so unless you preorder it theres a chance you may miss out. I still can work out the exact date for its release though because some of the posters they had up for it had march 29th. I would have asked but it was on my way out i noticed the date.

The release date for C&C 3 in NZ and Aussie is March 29th.

I will almost guarantee that the C&C 3 Kane Edition that releases in NZ/Aussie will be a cheap imitation of the US release. I don't believe for one minute about the strictly limited supply of them applies to us. The EA distributors for for this region will spit out as many so called limited Kane Editions as possible.

This has happened for "collectors editions" of an C&C games. When Tiberian Sun Platinum Edition was released here in NZ it sucked. The box was meant to be all shiny and sliver, my one was all dull, grey and boring :roll:

Thanks to our community manager, Predator, I finally secured the real Tiberian Sun Platinum Edition last year. Box #190 ;)

The same thing happened with the Red Alert 2 Collectors Edition. Another dull and boring box. Many years ago when Chris Rubyor (Delphi) was the Westwood community manager he sent a big box of goodies including the real Red Alert 2 Collectors Edition.

I never purchased Renegade, most fan sites got around 5-7 copies of it for free so my copy of Renegade came from the US. Same with Generals.

Looking in my cupboard I still have an RA2 CE all sealed up doing nothing.

I hope I'm wrong about what I said before, I really do. I just wouldn't be shocked of our Kane Editions look really dull compare to the US release of it.

I can take a picture of the 2 TS Plats I have for comparison. I'll get that posted up later tonight.

What were you expecting it to be? The one that came with the preorder disk with the fmv teasers isnt the kane edition if thats what you were expecting
