Installing C&C 3 Takes a Long Time!

Recommended Posts

Heads up to anyone who hasn't installed C&C 3 yet. Be prepared for a very long wait while it copies files. Mine finally finished installing and took almost 45 minutes!!!!

Its just seemed to slowly copy files then when it reached the end the DVD drive was making a clicking sound as it read the DVD. I was thinking my drive was failing or I had a dud disc. No status on the screen as to what the installer was actually doing either.

It kept on going then all of sudden popped up and said it was done.

I know its nothing to do with my computer or either of DVD drives. Because I installed S.T.A.L.K.E.R last night with out problems and it only took a matter of minutes. And yes I do understand the files on the C&C 3 DVD are compressed and have to be uncompressed while it installs. But damn, what a wait!

That's strange, but yeah, the installation isn't exactly fast on many machines. The rigs EALA had set up had C&C 3 installing, and some took 25 minutes, while others just scraped within the 15 minute mark... The ironic thing is, it's only 5.7Gb installation compared to Stalker which is the exact same size, and that took only 7-8 minutes.

Strange stuff.

Mine took around 5 mins, I was beginning to think the installation failed cause the copying files progress bar sat all the way across for a few mins

I'd say 10 minutes for me I was worried it make my external HD get warm cause it tend to do that when its on for like an hour

I forgot to mention that I canceled the first attempt to install it because once it got to the end where it says copying files it just sat their doing nothing. So the install that work was around 15-20 minutes.

The important thing is its installed, the game runs great, looks great. Scrin are cool.... but very powerful... maybe to powerful?

So far, they seem as powerful as Yuri did when he was introduced.

Some one else on the Official C&C 3 Forums commenting on the install time for C&C 3. But this is bit a large http://forums.ea.com/mboards/thread.jspa?t...5&tstart=15

I am so far at 4 hours 45 minutes and counting. Took me 2 - 3 hours to unpack, and 2 hours to install (It crashed twice). It's not quite finished yet.

Will I be featured in the Guiness Book of World Records 2007?

4+ hours

^^Same here, 15-30 minutes, not too bad considering mine took 30 for Rome: Total War, which was half cnc3's size :)

As I said when I started this thread. I know its not my DVD drive. I installed S.T.A.L.K.E.R on it in about 5 or so minutes.

45mins seems a bit steep? It took me no longer than 10 minutes, and my computer is average at best. I can only play cnc3 on medium, any higher and I get lag ;-;

Did you read the entire thread? I don't think you did. I thought my first installed failed so can canceled it, the second install did the same thing so I just left it running. The 45 minutes was for both of them.

So guess the install takes 15-20 minutes for most computers.
