Quick Site Survey

Recommended Posts

As you know there are some changes to the site coming soon, like the new layout. If you could take this quick survey it would help sort out a few problems. Be honest, give me details.

When answering each question put the question number before your answer like this 1) 2) 3) etc....

1) Is the main left navigation bar organised and easy to find what your looking for?

2) Do you find the whole "PAGE 2" idea useful at all?

3) On the right side feature bar (main page only) what do you find the least useful? "GAME TRACKER", "TIME TO VOTE", "FILE TRACKER", "COMMUNITY". Also explain the ones you find the most useful.

4) How would you rate the news coverage?

I will take all feed back into account as I work on the new blue layout style over the next week or so.

If I look at it really closely I can find what I'm looking for, but sometimes I stumble around, I use the overhead things to the right, where all the games are listed and you can click those. (Except it lacks Zero Hour)

2) Do you find the whole "PAGE 2" idea useful at all?

I hardly use to be honest.

3) On the right side feature bar (main page only) what do you find the least useful? "GAME TRACKER", "TIME TO VOTE", "FILE TRACKER", "COMMUNITY". Also explain the ones you find the most useful.

They're all good really, I like the right side of the site a lot. It's clear, it has all the stuff I need to see, there's nothing wrong with this side.

4) How would you rate the news coverage?

Horrid! Or not. You guys deliver this stuff within hours of the release of new information and this is the place where I get 80% percent of my C&C info. :)

why not just toss what doesnt really need there? why keep something if there is truly no point to, or its just there for fun.

you should really just keep what you need rather then extra stuff.

also i never found the PAGE 2 thing useful

1)I think you should move the features right under news, since they're the most important, and have the forums and page 2 section under that.

2)Not really...

3)Game Tracker and the voting things are fine.

4)Pretty cool, a little slow on some occasions but still top notch. :)

1. It's okay, though I had a bit of difficulty noticing the forum index link at first.

2. Not really.

3. No idea.

4. It's ok.

Why do you think he's asking in the first place? So he can buff up his self-confidence?

Thanks for the feedback guys. While the new layout is basically a return to the classic blue style I wanted to fine tune things a bit.

So far I've decided the PAGE 2 idea will be dropped. The colour coded game navigation bar at the top will be different. I will be rearranging the left nav bar a bit, mostly in the Games area.

And there will be a new addition to the main page.

Quite. I never get lost.

Useful? Probably not but it's a good extra. ;)

Honestly, I don't pay much attention to the right side.

4) How would you rate the news coverage?

Quite good except for the lack of mod coverage. There's more than APB and Reborn out there, you know. Needs more stuff about TFD mod developing, as well (eg; NPatch, mods, PPM tools, etc).

I agree with fen about the mod coverage. More of that would be nice.

I will admit, I've always been very picky and choosy about what gets posts in terms of news, especially when it comes to mod coverage. The way I see it is I can only post news about what interests me. But on the other hand that's not what news is.

I will look to improve our mod coverage, but with so many mods in the works for all the C&C games it gets a bit confusing and time consuming finding all the news.

Oh, and about page 2, I do use the forum focus often. :)

You could convert Page2 into a mod coverage page so if there's tons of mod news it won't cluster news of say Kane's Wrath. An idea, I donno. :?

Yeah, maybe an entirely different section for mod news. I could see that working out very well.

Since the entire PAGE 2 section is getting the chop that will be gone unfortunately.

I have the new blue version of the layout coded and ready to go. Just a few minor things I want to tweak though. Expect to the new blue layout go live early in the coming week.
