New APB Dev Blog - Big Update

Recommended Posts

A new APB Dev Blog has been posted on the Red Alert: A Path Beyond site, this one is a rather large and detailed update as well. In this new blog, Chronojam gives us a video preview of the new damage effects system. It features complex damage animations for all structures. Buildings that are able to collapse as well as fires, sprinklers and smoke. Check out the sample video below.

The APB launcher, introduced in the last patch, is getting a complete make over. It will be updated to match the main in game menu of Red Alert: A Path Beyond. It will also receive some new features and bug fixes.

There's more. While not 100% confirmed, two new maps are on the way, Snowed In (left) and Equal Opportunity (right), both previewed below.

There is even talk of the of an APB version of the Hourglass map from Renegade. Check the full blog for more details on these new maps. While your there, don't forget the quick Q&A session, where Chronojam has answered some of the most common questions asked on the APB forums and in IRC. More details available here.

Nice animation, but it's kinda soon for the turret to start burning at 50% damage...

You maybe right, but probably what it needs is a more startling 75% damage model. or putting it another way... if there are three steps 25, 50, 75, and we have smoke and fire, what could be the third gfx clue?

I guess missing chunk's is too hard?
