TripleCP 0 Posted January 27, 2008 Hey all. I'm a longtime C&C fan. I was formerly UncleDog during RA2's heyday, but I doubt anyone would remember me from then. I was active at Middle Earth Vault under the name "Dzhon" for a while, but moved to RTSCommunity (along with most of that board's veterans) when that site basically died. I was happy overall with C&C3, but think that if EALA wants to go back to the spirit of Tiberian Dawn and minimize the Tiberian Sun/Firestorm elements in the story they should just get on with it. The backpeddling they've done of late is just mucking things up more. Anyway, hello. Share this post Link to post

Oh yeah.... welcome and all that. Share this post Link to post
Alphabear 11 Posted January 28, 2008 I think he means the way they are having to go back to them now because of all the complaints Share this post Link to post
TripleCP 0 Posted January 28, 2008 Yeah, that's what I meant. I'm a little biased because I liked the storyline of TD a lot more than TS, but aside from the Tacitus 2028 mistake and having yet to really explain how the changes to Tiberium have come about I think most of their explanations were adequate. I'd rather just read "Hover technology proved too unreliable and inefficient blah blah" than have them reinsert "hover" units that function exactly like tracked/wheeled vehicles - if the new units could hover over water but took damage from "ground strikes" (or sunk if over water) when hit with EMP blasts that'd be one thing, but that's not what they're doing. Anyway, at some point EALA is just going to have to make their own game and their own storyline to go with it. It seems that they have less of a sci-fi orientation than many of the Westwood vets who are now at Petroglyph, but I think that could be a good thing because TS/FS was just a little too weird for many fans (myself included) and C&C has always been at its strongest when it keeps one foot in reality and another in sci-fi. I welcome Kane's Wrath as a way of smoothing some of the inconsistencies in the transition from Westwood's vision of C&C to EALA's, but I think parts of the community have become gripped by "petition-fever" and it'll cause more harm than good if Verdu and co. pay too much attention. Whew...thanks all for the warm welcome! Share this post Link to post
