And We End All Armed Conflict With... Gundam.

Recommended Posts

Maybe this is late news, but what the heck, I'll post it anyway. Gundam 00 is now up! And I must say (with little bias even though I love anything that is inspired by Gundam Wing) that this totally, without any question, pwns the hell out of Gundam SEED and Gundam SEED Destiny. And, if you doubt my words, get uTorrent, and DL just one, JUST ONE, episode. Be prepared to be blown back to the edge of your seat.

Iv'e got to admit I have never heard of Gundam before. Guess it's a manga comic right?

I remember watching the first series when I was little, but then I lost interest when they branched off into all these other versions. Good action, though.

I remember seeing it on some stations, I kept up with it for a bit, but then as crdgohan said, different versions appeared and I didn't really feel like following tons of them when I was little.

I liked Wing and the original. There's way too much now. They've saturated the market with it... not to mention, it's a mediocre series at best. =/

Well, actually, I didn't like SEED at all... But then, 00 is quite good... And don't compare Transformers with Gundam; they're different. Western Mecha is very different from Eastern Mecha (often Gundam, though it's not limited to that)... Also, they've changed focus... Often, they had 2 Gundam series at a time; right now, they're focusing on the same style with Gundam Wing, in which season 1 consists of 25 episodes, and the other 25 (but in Wing it actually was just 24). Also, returning to the Transformers and Gundam comparison... Well, you can't compare graphics at all, since Transformers now employ 3D (as evidenced by the film), while Gundam stays true to its Anime heritage. And, let's face it, Gundams are more graceful than Transformers, as well as less sentient (the closest to a self-aware Gundam was Wing Zero, Epyon and the Zero System equipped Sandrock Mk. II), while the Transformers are totally sentient. Also, Doctor Destiny (actually, I wanna call you Beowulf), have you watched just one episode? I mean, the story for this one is quite deep...

Transformers 3D? Nah, that's just one single movie (with the exception of the beast wars series). And I quite liked the fact that every transformer had its own personality (starscream ftw!).

I quit watching Gundam ages ago. It just doesn't interest me.

The Mecha genre, whether from the East or West, always rocks. Of course, the Japanese Mecha always are elegant & graceful machines... While American Mecha, most notably the Battletech 'Mechs, are graceless killing machines...

Well isn't that the best part about any Mecha show? :P

Depends. You want total massacres? Battletech's the way to go. Which is not to degenerate the greatness of Battletech. I love it. But then, the storyline... Well, it doesn't really move me that much. The Gundam series, especially in the past, didn't need to massacre thousands to move you; it used an excellent plot. And right now, the Gundam 00 plot really rocks....

The first episode means a lot to me... It's really a kind of partial remake of Gundam Wing... And that was my first Mecha anime AND 3rd anime I viewed (first was Dragon Ball, next was Ghost Fighter). That fact about the show really was the point that made me like it.

As of March 29, 2008... Gundam 00 Season 1 is finished. It just holy ****ing **** rocks... If you haven't watched it yet, I suggest you do so. Trust me, you'd be doing yourself a favor.
