Luk3us 63 Posted July 30, 2012 Topic. So I was watching some of the events today, and they have some odd 'sports' at the olympics these days. I was watching some women's handball (Its like soccer with your hands) and some volleyball. In other news, kinda funny how they royally ****ed up the seating arrangements. Nmenth 291 Posted July 30, 2012 It is ironic; the countries of the world aggressively compete to win the hosting position, and yet, the host country is going to screw up something somewhere along the line and be ridiculed by the rest of the world for it. What are people going to remember longer, the firework displays, or the screw ups? Share this post Link to post
Sonic 295 Posted July 31, 2012 Haven't really watched anything. We have a like 5 or 6 channels covering it all but the schedule is all wrong and doesn't match up to what being shown at the time. I'm mostly interested the basketball. Got to watch the NBA millionaires claim their gold medal Share this post Link to post
Chimas 7 Posted July 31, 2012 What scares most is: Brazil(rio) is next ... Share this post Link to post
PurpleGaga27 40 Posted July 31, 2012 Well I didn't really want to start a topic thread on the Olympics in the first place, but oh well.... I'm mostly interested the basketball. Got to watch the NBA millionaires claim their gold medal Me too. It's sad that neither Howard, Rose and Griffin are in the USA Dream Team due to injuries. What scares most is: Brazil(rio) is next ... I haven't really seen much action from the Brazillians lately in the Olympics. Share this post Link to post
Traymen 6 Posted July 31, 2012 (edited) Too much scums on this Olimpic Games. http://www.guardian....n?newsfeed=true Korean fencer won two or three times in a row, but countdown didn't started, but when it have run, the round was won by German fencer... one bloody second! EDIT: Next suspicious match - this time in badminton between Chineese and Korean player. First one is accused for dubious loss. http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/sports/2012-08/01/c_131752685.htm Edited August 1, 2012 by Traymen Share this post Link to post
Nmenth 291 Posted August 1, 2012 So this is from 2008, but I guess it is still relevant now: 11 Strangest Former Olympic Sports Share this post Link to post
Luk3us 63 Posted August 2, 2012 Hey, we won a medal. Yaa. Also, why isn't dwarf throwing in the Olympics? I mean that is an awesome sport. Share this post Link to post
Sonic 295 Posted August 2, 2012 We got 2 medals. 2 bronze. Why isn't Timber Sports part of the Olympics? Kiwis dominate this sport in USA. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stihl_Timbersports_Series Share this post Link to post
Plok 327 Posted August 2, 2012 Hungary, watch yourselves. Our handball team means business. Too bad I won't be able to see our waterpolo game against Italy, though. It seems to be replaced by the even more intriguing Europa League qualifier match between Hajduk Split and Inter. Share this post Link to post
PurpleGaga27 40 Posted August 2, 2012 (edited) As of two days ago, Michael Phelps of the USA, got a record 19 medals (with 15 gold medals), making him having the most medals than any Olympian in all of Olympic history. Edit: Watching the Olympics doesn't seem to be epic anymore, not even online as restrictions make it harder to watch it live even without cable. That's not how sports networks does that to the FIFA World Cup, March Madness or even the Super Bowl! Edited August 2, 2012 by zocom7 Share this post Link to post
Sonic 295 Posted August 2, 2012 Does everything have to be epic for you Zocom7? As for live Olympics coverage, we have a **** load of it here in NZ spread across 6 channels. Watching the USA Mens Basketball team destroy Nigeria live right now. Oh cool, NZ has a gold medal!! http://tvnz.co.nz/olympics-2012/cohen-and-sullivan-win-nz-s-first-gold-5004520 Share this post Link to post
PurpleGaga27 40 Posted August 3, 2012 Yesterday, a new Olympic record for basketball: the USA Dream Team 2012 beat Nigeria 156-73 while making 26 3-pointers and 71% overall FG!! Too bad I couldn't find the video in YouTube for the main highlights. Share this post Link to post
Plok 327 Posted August 3, 2012 Croatia won a silver medal in rowing! Almost won a gold, too. Sandra Perković is another candidate. Share this post Link to post
Guest Rabbit Posted August 3, 2012 USA won a medal in...! Well, we win a lot of medals. Share this post Link to post
Plok 327 Posted August 3, 2012 (edited) Wait... dafuq. EDIT Aug 4th: WAY TO GO SANDRA!! Edited August 4, 2012 by Plokite_Wolf Share this post Link to post
PurpleGaga27 40 Posted August 12, 2012 (edited) It appears that the Olympics are now over. For the final medal count update: USA with 46 gold medals and 104 medals overall, China with 38 gold medals and 87 medals overall and Russia with 24 gold medals and 82 medals overall. For the "kiwi" country, 5 gold medals and 13 medals overall. Good thing is, the USA Basketball team still wins the gold again. Edited August 12, 2012 by zocom7 Share this post Link to post
Plok 327 Posted August 12, 2012 Croatia won a gold medal in waterpolo and a bronze one in handball (those nasty French...) today! Big congrats to Lucija Zaninovic and Giovanni Cernogoraz as well! Well, guess I'll have to watch Blur's performance in the closing ceremony on Youtube tomorrow. (EDIT: what the hell, Central European diacritics no longer work on the forums??) Luk3us 63 Posted August 12, 2012 So the Olympics are all over, and no one got blown up. Alls well that ends well. Share this post Link to post
Sonic 295 Posted August 13, 2012 The Olympics are over but kiwis are still winning gold medals. Women's shot put champion, Valerie Adams who won a sliver medal last week has been awarded the gold medal after the original winner tested positive for metenolone, which is classified as anabolic agent under the 2012 Prohibited List... in other words she cheated. http://tvnz.co.nz/national-news/valerie-adams-speechless-gold-medal-win-5021496 Share this post Link to post
Inferno 22 Posted August 13, 2012 6/6/8 for the Netherlands. Not bad, I suppose. Share this post Link to post
TheBlackOut 7 Posted August 16, 2012 Yawn, Winter sports are better What did everyone thing of the opening and closing ceremonies? lol.. Share this post Link to post
PurpleGaga27 40 Posted August 17, 2012 (edited) The opening and closing ceremonies are simple and not as great as the ones from the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Edited August 17, 2012 by zocom7 Share this post Link to post
Plok 327 Posted August 17, 2012 ^I'd beg to differ for the opening ceremony. Didn't see the closing, though. Share this post Link to post
Inferno 22 Posted August 17, 2012 (edited) The closing ceremony was epic, too. Much better than Bejing. Also, LEDs in the chairs was a ****ing brilliant idea. Edited August 17, 2012 by Inferno Share this post Link to post
