We complain because we want to be heard. Letting EA rape what we believe in while we sit idly by is not going to accomplish anything.

Like it was written in "Blade Runner":

"Some day in human life comes a moment when he must rape his soul"

I belive this day has come.

Truth. One ends up feeling a need to direct the future of the franchise in the direction he likes. Some handle it constructively and many don't. That's the problem.

Indeed. It's not about changing things either, because I'm not a firm believer in recycling games over and over again. But the thing is, EA (when it comes to the C&C series) seems to be really incompetent in finding out what part of a concept works for a game and what part should be altered. And don't get me started on the execution of the concept....

It just seems like every little change gets scrutinized and dismissed before it even has a chance. There's an equally high probability that EA can actually deliver the right experience. I want to have hope but I have no expectations whatsoever for C&C 2013. If the game sucks, the game sucks and I'm not out anything.

So far, what I see is an astounding level of butthurt over EA taking the franchise in a slightly new direction. Change is one of the few constants. No one is the same as they were five, ten, or twenty years ago. Why would video games be the same? Should we expect games to have stopped evolving during the Atari era, because moving past blocky pixel graphics "rapes what we believe in"? Who is this "we" that's being alluded to? Why should anyone at EA care? They're in business to make money, that's their bottom line. If you don't fit the demographic they're appealing to, then you're **** out of luck. That's business, as unfortunate as it is.

Will I play it? I don't know. I probably won't - I'm getting jaded with the state of games lately. I find myself enjoying the process of creating game art, versus playing games. Most games are rehashes of the same things I've seen and done years ago. I don't see the point of spending my time or money on them, unless something truly spectacular comes out; just about anything by thatgamecompany is a great example. If it'll make you feel better, though, I can always drive the 15 miles it takes to go to EA Sports in Orlando and drop a flaming bag of crap on their office steps.

I would not compare improving graphics to vastly changing a business model. They are not even remotely similar.

Who is this "we" that's being alluded to?

Anyone that fits the statement. I think that is obvious enough... it's not encrypted.

Banks are in the business to make money too, and they have devolved into some of the most powerful and corrupt institutions on the planet. My point being that just because they are out to make money doesn't mean we should allow that goal to justify their actions and let them do whatever they want while walking all over us.

EA isn't "walking all over you" and is not comparable to a bank in any manner except that banks and EA both make money. A bank without Federal regulation leads to the economic collapse; people treating banks like they're casinos. EA making ****ty video games is not "walking over you" as it has no direct effect on your life. EA didn't put us into the Great Recession. EA doesn't offer predatory lending. EA doesn't lend money at all to consumers. When EA starts doing more than making ****ty video games, perhaps by donating to organizations like the Family Research Council, let me know. Otherwise, they're a producer of a good that you don't seem to fit the demographic for.

Last, but not least, it's their business model. They are altering the deal. Pray that they don't alter it any further.

Did you even read the words following "My point being"? I was not making a general comparison between banking and game development. The only comparison I was making is that allowing someone to do whatever they want just because their primary goal is profit is lunacy.

Your point was what again? That EA shouldn't be allowed to run their business into the ground because it makes you mad? I don't quite follow your logic here. What exactly are you butthurt about? Are you butthurt because EA isn't catering to your sophisticated desires, or are you upset because you don't control EA? I hope neither is the case.

For what it's worth, I agree that "someone" shouldn't be allowed to do whatever they want. Here's the thing, though - our country is set up in such a way that anti-trust laws would come down on EA if they turned into a monopoly. The only reason EA can continue being ****ty is because people continue buying their ****ty games. If you want something done about it, go set up a protest. You might find some gamers who agree, but I imagine most people don't care because when you step back and look at it from an outsider's point of view... It looks like a massive waste of time to complain about a game company choosing to make ****ty games.

...

If you can't even follow a thread's train of thought, why are you wasting your undoubtedly valuable time commenting on it?

My point from the very beginning is that we as the fans have every right to be complaining when EA is doing something we don't like, because saying nothing will accomplish nothing.

You then, as usual, manipulated the context, meaning, and logical path until even you forgot what was what.

You say "It looks like a massive waste of time to complain about a game company choosing to make ****ty games." But it looks to me like an even bigger waste of time to complain about people complaining about a game company choosing to make ****ty games changing the business model to something that will potentially drive the final nail into the coffin of a game series we've been playing for nearly two decades if they don't manage it just right (and by their record, probably won't).

My point from the very beginning has been that complaining is pointless. Vote with your dollars, not with your ineffective butthurt.

Oh I will, but the problem is by the time that voting phase comes around, it will be too late to change anything.

Complaining is only pointless if the recipient doesn't listen. EA doesn't listen well, but they have on the rare occasion at least attempted to listen. We complain because this may be one of those rare occasions. Probably not, mind you, but that doesn't mean we should let the chance pass by, waiting to see what fecal matter EA presents us with.

We're talking about video games, not eternal damnation. Like ACK said, vote with your wallet, not butthurt.
