Fixed Launchers for C&C: The Ultimate Collection

14 posts in this topic

Despite the marketing, the updated versions of the C&C games in Command & Conquer: The Ultimate Collection aren't 100% fixed and still cause problems when they are installed on modern operating systems like Windows 7, Windows Vista and possibly Windows 8. With this in mind, Bibber has made his own custom fixed launcher programs for Generals and Zero Hour, Tiberium Wars and Kane's Wrath, Red Alert 3 and Uprising, as well as Tiberian Twilight. These new launchers fix some registry entries and let command-line parameters (e.g. -ui -win) pass through.

If you want try these custom fixed launchers you can download them from this thread on the Official C&C Forums. They have been tested with the English (US) version of Command & Conquer: The Ultimate Collection.

EA is smart enough to know that if they mess up, someone from the community will fix their mistakes. ;)

Totally appreciate the effort by Bibber but it's sad when a whole company cannot fix a game release even after they screwed up before in similar circumstances.

I'd seen this released and half-jokingly wondered if it would have problems as well. Never should've doubted EA :P

I have never had problem with Generals on Windows 7. Compatibility mode works fine, and if something goes wrong it is in 99 % user fault.

The fixed "problems" aren't related to that. The original launchers don't pass on command line parameters to the game, meaning a load of functions like mod launching and windowed mode simply don't work on the Origin version.

Also when installing TUC several registry entries are not written. That's definitely no user fault.

True. On some systems I also believe the settings folders of C&C Generals under My Documents, and the settings files inside it, aren't created due to rights problems. Which was also a TFD issue. And without its default settings file, the game apparently refuses to start.

Hey folks - looks lik I could use those launchers mentioned in the top post but the links no longer seem to be active. Can anyone send me to a new location or give me a way to download - much appreciated!

- Just tracked them down - sorry and thanks!

Hate to bump this, but the launchers have now been updated to v1.15, with direct C&C:Online support and removal of locale restrictions (was only available for English and German versions). New link here and Dropbox mirror here.

The team at Mighty Ape have a great deal for Command & Conquer: The Ultimate Collection on today's Daily Deals for fans in New Zealand. Until 12PM tomorrow, or while stocks last, you can get a copy for just $19, the regular price is $49.99. Now that's a massive saving for the entire Command & Conquer franchise in one box! And remember Command & Conquer: The Ultimate Collection contains codes to download all of the games via Origin. There is no disc.

So I'd like to start off with: I love this series, It was my introduction to video games at the age of 5. So as a fan of this franchise I play lots of it.

I'd like to address my problem with skirmish maps not showing up in the single player skirmish map list (The ones I have installed.)
Now I have read posts on this forum about going in to User/username/appdata/roaming/redalert3uprising so on and so forth(yes I enabled show hidden files) And followed the steps there and I cannot figure out what my problem is. At first I thought I had to take the map folder out of its extraction folder (The one that’s empty except for the file containing the map and its various accompanying files.) into the maps folder I had to manually add into the RA3 Uprising. The folder contained only one folder a profiles folder. I've restarted my computer, added just the map files in the map folder, put the un-extracted zip files in the map files in the map folder and then extracted them there.

Please note that I have: Windows 10, and The Ultimate Collection version

Furthermore The Base game Red Alert 3 likes to prompt me a registration key as the Splash screen shows up before starting the game, then asks to re-confirm the key, except it does it over and over and over again when I click done. The key is already in the box when it asks for it. I don't know if this is a customer service issue or what. I will tell you however; I'm pretty irritated with my ignorance on this issue and not being able to fix it. Please if anyone has any information or help on this please PLEASE help me out here!!!
