Soviet Commando Natasha Profile & Behind The Scenes Trailer

Recommended Posts

We first reported this news a couple of weeks ago but now I guess its official. The Soviet Commando Natasha profile has just been posted on the Official RA3 Site. And obviously it features the actress Gina Carano. Here is some of it to get you started, plus the promo photos of Gina Carano as Natasha.

Natasha Volkova is a Russian folk hero, so much so that hers is a household name (her first name, that is) among Soviet citizens who love to show up in throngs to her staged appearances on national holidays and in military parades. Paraphernalia autographed by this highly decorated Leningrad-born sniper is known to sell for many tens of thousands of rubles, though few Soviets would be unconscionable enough to willingly part with such a treasure. After all, the Soviet Union has none other so renowned for her astonishing marksmanship, startling beauty, and complete devotion to the Soviet cause. Allegedly, Natasha's natural talent with a rifle was discovered early on by Soviet military recruiters, who worked with the press to make her name and prowess become the talk of the Union--and, before long, the world. While her exploits tend to be exaggerated, she is determined (some say hell-bent) to live up to her living-legend image.

Check out the full profile right here. If you want more information about Gina Carano, read this archived news item.

This news also appeared on Voodoo Extreme where EA officially announced Gina Carano will be starring as Natasha, a deadly Soviet commando, in Red Alert 3. You can even watch a short behind the scenes video by clicking here. Or just watch it below via the CNCNZ.com YouTube Channel.

A hundred dollars says they will work on her throwing down with Tanya in the best Kim Possible\Shego fashion.

She's....good. Very tough but still feminine.

What would be the more dangerous ride? Her, or the man cannon on the Bullfrog?

Hey, Tanya has been confirmed. No details yet but they better get this one right.

I wonder though, if her clothes are really that good for being worn on the battlefield ...

Of course. She uses the "Pinched Tent" strategy, thus immobilizing the enemy.

:haha:

Personally, this outfit makes her look butch and bulky, and the basic moves are too masculine, slow and inflexible.

IMO, she looks MUCH better in the actual fight footage and in this photo... that Sonic posted up before...

I note that today was just a photo shoot - so I assume she may not be properly warmed up, or flexible enough. So I'll reserve judgement until the final movies are released.

Sorry Gben..... if that's not an example of being overly critical I don't know what is.

Sorry then - there's no heat in my comments. I was trying to be objective, not subjective.

And well I'm certainly being superficial, I freely admit and acknowledge it!

:)

I'm just disapointed that the flesh and blood doesn't quite capture the essence of the concept/artwork. So I don't feel I'm being overly critical, well I wasn't trying to express that. I'm just dissapointed, and explained why. Please take my comments as directed more against the costume and not the person.... that the costume makes her look butch and bulky - whereas your photo proves she's lean, slinky and feminine.

BTW I'm comparing her martial art moves with the small collection of Hong Kong Cinema I own, and again I make the suggestion that this is a photo shoot not a stunt day...

I watched her Match the other night, she kicked ass. And she was sporting an RA3 top. At least they got someone who can fight for the role. :P

While the outfit's a little fanservicey, I like this choice I think. I'm glad it's not just some ***** or some twig, and the little background story is nice. It sounds like they're taking a pseudoserious tone for this one, which will be most welcome after Yuri's Revenge which went a little too bats*** crazy with reckless abandon from time to time. We need tension and drama about killing traitorous civilians and the fate of the free peoples, not "oh sweet Lt. Eva winked at me."

WOW... fanservicey... learn something new everyday. I thought you made that up - the preogative of university graduates I suppose... afterall they think they know something now - but a little googling and I'm impressed with the word choice.

Oh and congrats again on graduating Chronjam!

Maybe Sally Stallion could return for the game...wait, wrong Rocky.

I saw it when browsing proper uniforms. It...ah, it seems based on this.

Yeah, we need someone who could actually be a soldier, a commando. Since we have a mixed martial artist for Natasha what suggestions might there be for Tanya?

With bears? Okay, that may fit well with Soviet ingenuity, along the lines of their visa system. It certainly beats having movie heroes fight for you. But for a lot of people that was the appeal, that it was over the top.

Zofia has a similar scene when you go after Yuri which is better done and more in line with what you are thinking, but YR was just...how can people complain about Generals with this? Just the same do we want to take it to Velvet Assassin's levels with smuggling cyanide pills to assist suicide and concentration camps? That would be a little too intense for some.

Leang, don't forget the very first Soviet briefing/mission in Red Alert the original.

I did forget about that, yes. Come to think of it there have been several distasteful parts of C&C, including a Nod attack on a village for propoganda, the Allies attacking civilians in Vladivostok and one GLA mission being a raid on a city. In terms of adding drama and tension this way and taking on a more quasi realistic edge I think fans would hate for the game to be remembered for something like the training missions being set in gulags and the controls are learned by killing prisoners. But given what else could have been targeted in the series and escaped unscathed, that would be unlikely.

Enough seriousness though, any hints in the Japanese commando, perhaps?

A Japanese schoolgirl cyborg? But yeah, an interductory Brotherhood mission saw you murdering a local political figure (Nikoomba) and the intro video to the entire game showed terrorist acts including the attack on that skyscraper. Nod isn't just THE BAD GUYS, they're terrorists.
