Red Alert 3 Beta Patch v1.1 Released

Recommended Posts

For those in the Red Alert 3 Beta Test, EA have a patch for you already. However, don't go jumping for joy about balance fixes for the dreaded Soviet Sickle & Stingray rushes just yet. The patch only fixes a couple of minor User Interface problems and a game exploit. As follows:

  • Fixed an error with the online lobby chat window text becoming corrupted.
  • Fixed graphical bug in main menu screen where the Statue of Liberty was missing and there was a green square at the bottom right of the same screen.
  • Fixed a bug which allowed hacking the game to allow LAN play.
At time of posting there is not currently an executable available, so if you're in the Beta, log in to the lobby to download it. The patch weighs in at around 18MB.

With 10,000 more people to be added soon and if you registered your beta key from Kane's Wrath early enough, you have a strong chance of getting in I would say.

Did a little research into the game already, run it with "-getPatch" and it will get the update outside of the game :)

I just received my beta key by email (2.46pm AEST). I'm currently in cue at fileplanet (20mins) before I begin downloading...

Who knows... I could actually be playing tonight!

EDIT: Downloading 750mb of goodness right now!

Aw, you got my hopes up, but alas, I didn't get my beta yet...

Well a one-slided rugby match, dinner and other RL activities later, I was finally able to get my first game in.

I was fortunate enough to get an auto-match with another first-timer - so we just spent the first 30min building our own base.

The whole thing last 90mins while we tested some things, but he eventually wiped me of the face of the earth...

He was soviets and I was allies.

I was stuck on a low-res, squash setting, so I lost a lot of visual impact of the game - but it went fairly smooth.

I noticed a few bugs, but I'll have to see what's already been found before I voice my comments.

The installation went pretty smoothly, happy. When I first logged in, I couldn't find the anyway to start a game - just the chat room. But I restarted the game and was able to start the auto-match, custom-match etc. Just in case it happens to you too.

I expect to get some serious game-time tomorrow, but I just wanted to test it out tonight.

Two highlights

- dog paddling

- falling satellites

I played like 11 matches and only won once...great fun that game is, and it looks superb, too. Damn you haters at cnc-files, damn you all to hell!

Damn my school for overloading me with work in March and April forcing me to buy Kane's Wrath a month after it came out!
