Safari for PC, what do you think?

Recommended Posts

Well, the title said so, since we're familiar with Safari, especially to the Mac users or PC users who are forced to use Macs for educational classes.

What do you think? Me, I say no, since Firefox in Mac pwned over Safari & even caused IE for Mac decommissioned. I still say, no, a no-go test for me on Safari for PC.

Wasn't the Windows version of Safari released many months ago?

Either way I heard it was rubbish.

It's best as a MAC and iPhone app, but nothing more... I like the way they're bundling it with Quicktime like they've done with iTunes.

It annoys me such that I download updates of Quicktime to use that particular app, and get numerous other Apple related freebies that I simply don't want. What's even worse is that I don't have a damn choice in opting out of installing them.

To be honest I'd rather have the Like of EA and other devs use High Def WMV, than MP4 files... it would be the perfect excuse to get rid of all of Apple's Crap off my machine for good!

Which reminds me:

The only Apple product I even use is Safari since it walks all over Firefox's standards compliance but outside of that, it's IE7 and FF3 for me. Though... I have to test as much as I can being an ASP web dev. >_> <_<

I downloaded/installed it, but figured out that it sucks compared to FF3..so yeah, haven't opened it since then

Anyway, yeap, I don't trust it. Like what you said, Saracen, I prefer Quicktime & MP4 videos to be read on my Winamp player (For some, Windows Media Player), but it turns out they don't work. MP4 does read on Winamp but it shows no pictures, only audio is read. :(

That's because your thinking as a web developer. The average internet surfer couldn't care a less about standards compliance. Most aren't even concerned about browser security either.

This. Plus CCCP equals Win.

Yes I use Media Player Classic for my Quicktime and RealPlayer needs when they arise.

I just can't stand using bloatware or crapware if I can avoid it.

Combined Community Codec Project. It started mainly to play anime but it evolved and works for general use, as well. Very handy pack.

Combined Community Codec Project.

Ah, ok, makes sense now. I was wondering how the Soviet Union was relevant.

With so many of you mentioning VLC, I guess I'll have to try it out...
