Doctor Destiny 41 Posted October 20, 2008 ... as a classic ASP/SQL programmer. There's a two week probation to determine if I'm qualified enough to be long term. And best of all, I work right from home. Share this post Link to post
sith_wampa 6 Posted October 20, 2008 Contributing to society? How conformist.. Congrats. Share this post Link to post

Nmenth 291 Posted October 21, 2008 I always thought you would be on some form of probation in your life I was going to use that joke, you beat me to it... Share this post Link to post

Mina Synd 0 Posted October 21, 2008 o.O good job... and yey from home... now just don't screw it up >_> this could turn out to be the best job you'll ever have. how much are you making from it? (or will make if it turns into long term work o.o) Share this post Link to post
Doctor Destiny 41 Posted October 21, 2008 If I go long term, I'll make a good living. Share this post Link to post
Mina Synd 0 Posted October 21, 2008 oh yey! do it do it ^-^ cos it sounds like a pretty good job... (though be it, in my opinion, a little boring and frustrating work... >.>) but it's at home and you're getting paid a nice sum for it o.o Share this post Link to post
Doctor Destiny 41 Posted October 22, 2008 Development is always frustrating. I know that already... and half of the job isn't even in my area of training. At all. But the research I've done on it has really made it seem easier than it used to be. But yeah... good living, out of the home no less, I'll stick around. Besides, I can move anywhere and work for the same company. Win freakin win. Share this post Link to post
Luk3us 63 Posted October 22, 2008 I dislike working at home. As work tends to slip into personal time very easily... Maybe its just me, but I like clear cut borders, or at least I like to make them. Work | Home. So what do you do for your new job? Back end and integration junk? Share this post Link to post
Inferno 22 Posted October 22, 2008 I dislike working at home. As work tends to slip into personal time very easily... Maybe its just me, but I like clear cut borders, or at least I like to make them. Same, sides working at home kinda means you get out a lot less. Getting out a lot less = less meeting people, which kinda sucks. But that's just my opinion. Share this post Link to post
Doctor Destiny 41 Posted October 22, 2008 So what do you do for your new job? Back end and integration junk? Basically, yeah. Updates, maintenance, new functionality, all that jazz. Same, sides working at home kinda means you get out a lot less. Getting out a lot less = less meeting people, which kinda sucks. But that's just my opinion. It's not a bad thing for me. Means I get to keep the same job if I move, and I don't spend nearly as much on fuel since I have nowhere to drive. Put it this way - my normal commute time would have been at least 35 minutes or more. I skip the hassle, making it much easier. Share this post Link to post

Doctor Destiny 41 Posted October 22, 2008 Not at liberty to say. I signed an NDA. Share this post Link to post
mormreed 0 Posted October 23, 2008 You could have said double secret probation, it does sound cooler Share this post Link to post
TheBlackOut 7 Posted October 23, 2008 Not at liberty to say. I signed an NDA. What's the reasoning behind that? ... Share this post Link to post
BioBen 3 Posted October 23, 2008 Why would they make you sign an NDA so we don't know who you work for? Share this post Link to post
Doctor Destiny 41 Posted October 23, 2008 It's not entirely that. It's mainly that I don't name any specific names or leak any source. However, still won't say who I work for even if it doesn't violate my NDA. Share this post Link to post
Mina Synd 0 Posted October 23, 2008 o.O; maybe he's embarressed? XD; not that it matters. we don't really need to know it o.o; but ya... meeting people is only a big issue if you're real social o.o it wouldn't really matter to me xD the only time i leave the house is like, to get supplies or go to my social group thingie o-O but yah, are you gonna be able to cope with having to do things you don't know how to do? o.o; Share this post Link to post
Doctor Destiny 41 Posted October 23, 2008 Fairly easily. All I'm really doing is Microsoft's version of PHP, which I understood already. Share this post Link to post
Mina Synd 0 Posted October 23, 2008 yey! then no problem :3 so long as it's something you can easily (or at least, relatively easily) do... from your house... and you're getting paid for it! win-win situation ^o^ Share this post Link to post
