Solution to world's energy crisis.

Recommended Posts

They will care when we run out of oil, unfortunatly that will probly be in my lifetime.

[/

sad as that is its true and i know the second it gets close to drying up there is going to be a huge war over whats left like in the hard to reach places like in the arctic

so why dont people harnes feul cell energy systems as well as wind and hydro power?

Fuel cells are still being constructed and researched, they are still too new to be used on a large scale.

when it dries up the US is gonna do all the conquering and shortly after there will be a great depression

well if we go down a level to cars specifically, many many alternate sources have been created. i mean there are alternative fuel cells which use hydrogen and electricity, those are already in production in most countries now. it's just oil based cars are cheaper o.o

however, cars which run on water were made in like, the early 50's... but the oil barons considered them such a threat that they had the government ban the idea. they've only recently sprung up again... there are a couple of them in construction and such now but they are nowhere near as efficient as the original ones made o.o the reason that no-one is using new ideas is because oil is so well established and the governments make a lot of money from the oil barons. countries like saudi arabia generally support america's economy so long as america keeps buying oil...

the second the oil runs out there probably will be some bigass wars an stuff. and by then the world's economy will be in such ruin that it will be too late to invest in alternate sources. if our leaders don't do -something- soon we're all gonna screw ourselves over :\

but y'know whatever. i've always wanted to live in a post-apocalyptic society (i'm just too cheap to move to russia xD; )

good old U.S.S.R. at one point...

BTW hydrogen is being set aside for it is dangerous ON MASSIVE PROPORTIONS (nuke=HYDROGEN bomb, hydrogen=BOOM!)

and the electric car was invented before the gas automotive

[De-pres-sion]  8. <Great Depression> the economic crisis and period of low business activity in the U.S. and other countries, roughly beginning with the stock-

               market crash in October, 1929, and continuing through most of the 1930s.

This is caused by foolish consumption, and undesired change...

:no: ...

You have no idea what you are talking about... (Please note, this is not a question)

Your statement is so absurdly inaccurate, that I don't even want to waste my time on it, nevertheless, on behalf of sanity...

:nuke: Hydrogen is not being set aside, it is quite attainable by running electrical current through water, which conveniently covers most of the planet.

:nuke: Hydrogen is not 'dangerous ON MASSIVE PROPORTIONS'. It is unstable and explosive, somewhat dangerous, but not exceptionally so.

:nuke: Hydrogen is not a component of a hydrogen bomb, it is called such because the explosion creates hydrogen atoms from the splitting of deuterium and tritium molecules.

:nuke: no nuke does not = HYDROGEN bomb. Nuke = short form of nuclear weapon. Not all nuclear weapons are hydrogen bombs.

:nuke: Yes, hydrogen does = BOOM... if you light it with a match. Actually more of a loud pop accompanied by a flame... on a large scale, it looks like the Hindenburg disaster.

hydrogen+surroundings are what multiplied the power of the Castle Bravo hydrogen bomb by 1000x the one dropped on Hiroshima

and getting hydrogen from electric current is very inefficient, you can charge/create a battery -power source (bad for environment) add water (bad for environment) then burn (bad for environment)

;OR you can simply replace the gas stations (going to have to go anyways), with power stations for charging cars...

{and make power plants solar, and wind}

Castle Bravo had a higher-than-expected yield due to calculation error involving lithium-6, I don't know where you're getting this hydrogen idea from...

My point in getting hydrogen from water was not meant to be efficient, I was merely saying hydrogen is easily accessed if someone wants it.

Just testing ya B)

Nuclear Weapons hurt, hurt, and hurt, but they make epic CG in movies

We need to make more use of water power, since that seems to be the most efficient, non-harmful energy source.

But on shorter term it may be better to replace coal/gas burning plants with nuclear energy.

hydrogen is only one of several methods for alternate fuel. and for the average motorist it's quite efficient. it's a lot cheaper because all you have to do is charge the battery every so often and fill up the bigass tank thing with water from the sink or hose or whatever o.O at least that's how most of them work. some you have to directly insert hydrogen into. which is a lil awkward right now cos there aren't any hydrogen pumps xD;

but seriously water cars are definately the future. you can't get anymore efficient then that o.o they are as fast as any other vehicle and we have plenty of water ^^ electricity based cars are good too but it would be a lil more expensive then water (having to charge/buy batteries...) but considering we already pay water bills... or if you're really cheap, just go to a river or wait til it rains and just have a lot of buckets xD

a water car is by far the best method for this planet, but it probably won't happen whilst the oil barons have a say in vehicle production :\

but for every other kind of power i'm sure nuclear and electricity would do fine o.o solar panels in hot countries/states and wind turbines everywhere else that it would be inappropriate to have a nuclear plant o.o;

from what i understand nuclear plants are dangerous to some extent but because they have the power to be really dangerous, there are so many many fallback options to stop the plant overheating... heck a nuclear power plant is probably one of the safest places to be in the world xD

water is limited, and to keep it from gumming up you would need to use fresh water (which we are already fairly limited)

and trust me you have no idea were is the absolute safest place though...

There's not enough places to build dams. And if you try, ecofags jump all over your case. It's almost impossible to utilize any existing forms of power without pissing someone off. And heaven help you if you piss off the misinformed. They'll attack you with unsubstantiated claims that they pass as fact...

Nuclear power should be long term. It's actually the most cost effective, cleanest and safest form of energy there is.

clean??? nuclear waste is the worst of the dirtiness, worse for environment (coal burning is "worst" because it is being overused everywhere...

Nuclear waste is good, it gets turned into DU shells which can be shot at stupid people in need of a reality check.

Viva depleted uranium, death to the world's endless supply of idiots!

Seriously though, nuclear waste can pose a problem, but it can also be taken care of. Really the only threat is those madmen that do what they will at any cost and find dumping radioactive waste in your backyard to be easier.

At least in the US, we're developing a dedicated site for storing the waste until its half-life expires. Not sure about foreign countries, however. Canada might borrow it though.

It can pose a problem but hours upon hours of research has been poured into storage safety, transportation safety and reactor safety. It would be hard pressed for anyone to suffer any negative consequences with all the elaborate testing these materials have undergone.

Find the test footage of the waste containers. They conceived catastrophic scenarios in which the casket of waste did not even crack, and that was in the 1970s. Imagine how much improvement science can achieve in a mere 30 years.

Exactly, those madmen I'm talking about are the problem, not the storage procedures. China. Oops, it slipped out again...

I didn't say let the madmen have nuclear power. Let people who won't **** it up for everyone else have the nuklear POWAH!

well here in Canada we try to use hydro-power, wind power, and off grid solar power... (i hate it when people in the 'south' think we live in igloos, well guess what WE ARE SMARTER than you southerns {stereotype} :P ) [oh no i hate stereotypes. Bad lama]

how many people aren't mad or stupid? (USA's fault originally, spawned by the American TV, mostly)

About water power I wasn't just talking about dams and stuff, we need to research more into sea wave power etc.

And nuclear > oil/gas/coal plants anyday.

well i'm sure there are other ways to harness water other then just having a bigass dam... maybe stick a big pump in the sea and have it run the water through a filtering system, then through some kind of charging system like a watermill thing o.o then you get power from the charging and clean water. and you wouldn't only have to hog around the river outlets o.O you could build the power centre as far inland as you want. you'd just need a bigass tube going under the land and a really powerful pump o-o; but yah... yet another one of those ideas that could work very effectively if people put it into practice and thought around any and all hitches. but the governments would never go for it anytime soon... go figure ._.

The problem there Mina is that would use far more power than it could generate.

aaah there's always a way around it. besides you could probably rig up some kind of vacuum system... the same way jet engines work or when you siphon oil from a car's tank xD just need to start it off and it keeps going by itself o.o but yah, there's always a way to get things working easily... like i said, just need some scientists to work out the kinks...

You're talking perpetual motion here. People have been trying to create a perpetual motion machine for a long time, it hasn't happened yet.

If you can craft the very first perpetual motion machine, you will be rich and famous worldwide. I'm not holding my breath...

hmm... well in theory making a water based one shouldn't that difficult o.O you just need to get it started. once it starts moving it will continue until the water runs out or air gets inside and messes with it o.O just build it at an angle and get a few watermill blade circle thingies set up o.o as it goes through the first mill bits, it'll turn all the mill bits... an the next one moves it along an keeps it going... then you've got the water pressure putting it in there in the first place and water mill things carrying the water back -up- again out to your station thingie inland o.o either that or save on mills and just build the station deep underground xD;
