Planet CNC Reviews Red Alert 3

Recommended Posts

A new review of Red Alert 3 has popped up. This time is from Planet CNC. These are the sorts of reviews I like to see, reviews that consist of real opinions from the gamers and fan site staff who aren't influenced by the almighty dollar. Forget about the reviews you will find at the big gaming sites. Anyway. Planet CNC's score for Red Alert 3 is 9/10. Here's a sample.

The acting is a highlight. While some felt that Command & Conquer 3's acting was overdone and almost comical for the serious setting of the Tiberium storyline, the cheesy acting works perfectly here. It doesn’t make you cringe, it makes you smile, and most importantly, it makes the campaign a whole lot more entertaining. I was eager to get through every Soviet campaign mission just so I could hear Tim Curry (playing Premier Cherdenko) slaughter the Russian accent. Unlike some of Tiberium Wars' sets, which felt slightly forced and fake (Seriously? Ajay? In that same tent? Again?), the RA3 scenes are actually more realistic, which is perhaps slightly ironic considering the game’s comedic tone. Some reviews have called it overly cheesy, or cringe-worthy, but frankly I think the cutscenes carry so much charm they can almost justify the price of admission on their own.

You can read the entire review right here. If you want another fan based review, check out CNCNZ.com's Red Alert 3 Review while your here.

Was this posted somewhere else too? I seem to remember reading that review somewhere else...

Maybe just my imagination.

Anyway, I liked it. I like reviews from people who have actually played the game and previous games better than some reviewing site that has no idea of the point of the cutscenes and all. This reviewer understands the tongue-in-cheekness. :D

good review but i disagree about the cut-scenes i thought it was a weak point of the game. granted, they were improved since TW, but still don't match Westwood's...

yea the cut-scenes in RA3 weren't horrible, they just lacked the action Westwood's had. for instance, RA1 had spies killing ppl in their cut-scenes. as opposed to just being told what to do in RA3 (with exception of the empire's cut-scenes)

(with exception of the empire's cut-scenes)

(Which I found somewhat boring)
