Red Alert 3 Uprising Review at Strategy Informer

Recommended Posts

Strategy Informer have posted their review of Red Alert 3 Uprising. To sum things up they enjoyed it, even mentioning their top game moment in Uprising as the "Giant uber robot head of death", obviously in reference to the Giga-Fortress. A final score of 8 out of 10 was awarded. Here's a small sample from the review.

Even though it may not seem so at first glance, Uprising is a worthy expansion to the game. Whether it’s worth buying however depends on what you value more, single player or multi-player. If you’re looking for something to enhance the single player experience, then this is well worth the price. Unless you’re on one of those people who just like doing the campaign, then this may not be the choice for you. People who love multiplayer however will find little new here to keep one occupied, so think carefully before you buy. Ultimately though, if you’ve been following the series since its origins, you know you’re going to get this game anyway. Enjoy.

Well that makes two game reviews with an 80 percentage rating. PCG has yet to rate and so is this website.

But if you look through Metacritic, the average rating of RA3 Uprising is pretty disappointing at 63% through 16 reviews excluding this review and it's 4% away from calling it epic fail... Yikes! We all know exclusive online digital distribution and SP mode only to this game. It would be better if that game is released freely to the public as an add-on mod to RA3 since it's all SP.

Hopefully if there are more good reviews, the average rating should go up. IMO, if the latest reviews continue showing poor ratings for this game, it will be unanimous to say that this C&C game will be considered the worst game in the C&C series, far worse than C&C Sole Survivor. So much for the rush development that EALA has done which didn't do a good job managing a popular C&C game like this and I never knew that they did their worst.

As a veteran gamer and most other veteran players who played and knew C&C for a long time, we all know when we personally say and look when we play C&C games. This game is not one of them and it will truly be the fact from most veteran gamers that recent C&C games developed by EALA are most likely to ruin the C&C franchise after all.

I don't care about review scores, especially the Metacritic scores. The review that matters is your own.

Which will more than satiate the hunger of the anti-EA side in the C&C community.

Me included.

I've played the game, and the only thing that is incomplete was the Commander's Challenge. I enjoyed it personally, especially the Yuriko's RPG style mode and the new refreshing Commander's Challenge. The only problem I want to voice out was that the Allied and EotRS campaigns were too short, its weird, Soviets have 4, and both of them have 3. Another issue and its most probably a personal gripe was the distribution method, that is, digital download "exclusive".

And to the above posts, seriously its bloody ridiculous, even at this point of time, doing those anti-EA crap and possibly wishing for Westwood/Petroglyph. Have fun dreaming, folks.

Uprising is definitely one step closer to more innovation and renewal on EA's part, so I'm really annoyed by the continuous anti-EA stuff. Grow up, seriously.

I was amazed by these so-called "veteran" fans. It's been years now and the hate still continues, and the funny thing is that the reasons they gave was probably old recycled reasons since EA took over [1], and the funnier thing is that since they hate the new franchise so much why bother sticking their heads in the community updates?

Btw I am definitely not an EA fanboy, in fact, I'm not anyone's fanboy for that matter. I'm just speaking from my heart out.

[1] Examples are "EA rape C&C and/or Westwood Studios", "[iNSERT NEW PRODUCT HERE] s**ks because it's by EA", "Westwood Studios will definitely do a better job than EA if they are still around".

Yeah...no.

Most reviews whined about imbalances and the missing online mode, but what did they expect from a 20 dollar, stand-alone single-player-only expansion? For your information, it has been well received by the CnC community. And that's far more significant to me than so-called professional reviews.

But if you do care about them, you should take a look at the metacritic scores of past EALA CnCs and realize that they have been very well received.

CnC is far from ruined and still of high quality, regardless how you dear anti-EA WW fanboys put it.
