Windows 7 RC1 (Build 7100)

Recommended Posts

So, is anyone trying out the new build of Windows 7? I downloaded the image from torrents and am going to use my x64 key. I tried the beta earlier but forgot why I went back to XP.

Also, if you need a key, if you got a Windows Live ID, you can still grab a beta key and it will work with RC1,

That soon you think? Probably more like the first quarter of 2010. Don't care when they release it anyway, I never jump to a new OS as soon as its out.

Yes. Windows 7 has been supposedly scheduled to be released in late 2009, which is a good thing. But expect prices for it to be ridiculously high in retail shops until a few months of cooldown.

Well I won't get it till next year at the earliest anyway, as that will be when I make a new computer to replace this one. :)

Yeah well to me Win 7 is just Vista Second Edition anyway. When it hits retail it will be way overpriced.

And bet most people who are using the Win 7 beta versions right now are doing so simply because its free, they don't care about testing at all.

Microsoft knows this, every does. They don't care though. Why? Maybe out of every 10,000th person, 1 might send good feedback... Also Microsoft runs its error logger in the background and when applications fail, it reports back to them automatically with an error log. User doesn't have to do anything. Microsoft wants a lot of people because of this because it means program capability can be improved.

As for me I'll probably wait patiently till the end of the year or Q1 of 2010. By then I'll definitely have to replace one of my rigs with either the slightly cheaper and newer Core i5, or the older and possibly newer stepping Core i7, or be so tempted to jump for the Gulftown processor. :X

You are on Core i7, your rig will support Windows 7 with no problems.

You are on liquid cooling, so how does that make your temperature crappy?

its asetek 120mm water cooling, and i dont think it has a pump. i typically idle around 41c, and have reached an idle of 54c on hot days

well apparently with liquid cooling my CPU should be alot cooler, and that 62c is dangerous

If your liquid cooling system is that hot, there must be something wrong with the setup. Shouldn't you be using those liquid cooling solutions instead of water?

Honestly, just replace the cooling setup. A good liquid loop NEVER goes that high unless you're trying to hit 5GHz with magical lunar monster overclocks.

One possible reason is the contact points from the processor to the water block. Take them out and re-apply a good thermal paste. Try this thermal paste.

Would be useful if you tell me how much you've overclock your processor.

>_> dont overclock at all thats what is messed up. i cant overclock unless i get this liq cooling to pwn my temps...

Or just go down to town to get one. Or whichever is convenient for ya.
