hehe yeah sonic of course you're right about that, but don't forget the poll's topic: which WESTWOOD game do you like most? generals really shouldn't be an option, it's an EA game, not westwood ... oh well ...

 

I'm still hoping for that Td remake. The only thing that currently lacks in the game is the engine since it's outdated. I think the game has the highest replay value of them all though... (ra1 being a close second)

true ... but it has a high replay value, if you want, alot of tactics ARE possible ... Td misses the assaults via the water I think

well... thats not true, there are some base tactics that cant be beaten on a certain map.

 

take for example that big islands map where you get anywhere with cruisers and destroyers..

 

What do you do... play allies.. make only cruisers and destroyers (cruisers also for defense of base) and you cant be beaten

haha man you gotta learn A LOT. Just because you can't win a map doesn't mean the game is unbalanced or sumtin. How long does it take a player to get cruisers? right! you get enough time to bring up a small army and make your first assault. Believe me, in those days I've stopped several rushing strategies ... it is possible really ...

Ever heard of 5 bazokaa people with walls build on them,..... they cant be beaten.. except if you got long range, that is also not so quick build

 

BELIEVE ME.. I CAN WIN EVERY MAP WITH THE RIGHT TACTIC

 

there are some exceptions, some maps can be won with different tactics.. really few though

you're avoiding my point ... you said that it has TOO many of those tactics and now you're saying it's only rare, but still possible? :?:

there are always ways to 'cheat' your way through a game, every RTS has this so no use complaining about that ... even chess (father of all strategy games) has certain 'rush' tactics ... thats the game rite?

Well.. it all comes out to a certain type of rush, when it`s on land it will always result in making as much mammoths.. for example in generals these (overlords) can be defeaten by... for example nuke cannons.. There are many more tactics in for example generals.. dont deny that

yeah oh well ... I NEVER found an unbeatable tactic in ra1 and has several in the generals beta test (Dunno about the final game, never played it). I can tell you ... the beta was waaay too unbalanced ... then again, maybe it's just a matter of taste

I still have it and I play it sometimes online, infact its the only one where my connection can cope. I can get on the generals lobby but it crashes inside the game

o yea... Renegade is a C&C game and ALL C&C games ARE NOT REAL WAR GAMES... maybe based on a war but about 86% wrong if they were... o and there was never a WW against the Soviets

No one ever said that C&C was based on anything from real life. Only Generals has used real life events.

Besides EnB, though, the original Command & Conquer remains number one. It has to be the best RTS of all time, IMO.

My favorite ones are the Dune and Emperor series red alert , red alert 2 ,and C&C generals with the expansion called zero hour.

My favourites are Generals, you can not deny the playability and balence is supurb. As a note I thought it was started to be developed by Westwood - they were bought out part way through and it was finally published by EA - is this not correct???

 

RA2 is alod cool but the Yuri expansion was poor.
