New BattleCast Primetime Episode Online

Recommended Posts

The latest episode of BattleCast Primetime, number 19 I think, is now available for viewing on the Official C&C Site. A new exclusive look at Red Alert for iPhone, tons of swag give-aways, The "10" meets Ladder Season 3's best, the Main Event and more as Raj tackles an all-new 30 minute BattleCast Primetime.

I wish I could watch the episode & then comment, but I'm VERY VERY disappointed that EA is utilizing Ooyala, probably the worst video provider I ever seen. I can't believe the episode is broken into numerous segments like pieces of broken glass. PLEASE! I prefer a SINGLE FLV file which causes no hangs upon download or waiting and suddenly a new fragment is in the process of downloading.

Really? Eh, well I won't watch it then, as I always download it and watch it later, not sitting around waiting for it to buffer.

Ah no way, Ooyala rocks. It's way better than what we were using before. You can skip to any point in the video and not wait for it to buffer, its completely opposite of what you are saying. Our old FLV player you'd have to wait. Either way, you can still watch the show in exactly the same way as you could before.

Try dragging the timeline and watch how you can select a scene (iTunes style), it's very cool.

Enjoy,

APOC

Great episode, looking forward to both the iPhone game and further updates on the upcoming C&C4 product. And the new Ooyala Player was good for me, IMO, as it played pretty smoothly even on an ancient based computer, the previous players were terrible, as they lag by eating up all of my processor power then.

Nice 2POC and APOC funny section! APOC FTW! Nicely played!

Since 2POC is unable to steal APOC corner, why not ask 2POC to be Raj's buddy as a co-host or something?

Oh btw I like Michelle's smile, kinda cute. :)

Well, what I did was completely download the whole FLV file via Firefox plugin called "NetVideo Hunter" or "Sothink Web Video Downloader", I DIDN'T wait for the entire episode to buffer, buffering is bad and may result of incomplete download of the FLV in case if a connection cuts off and have to rebuffer from the beginning. With the plugin in use, you skip all that and just download the whole 350mb FLV file instead.

When my plugin is at work, it acquires fragments of the episode from Ooyala, all that miniature size of those fragments prevent the FLV file from being complete as a single file instead. That's why I complain. :( Sometimes I was very busy with something else, that's why I prefer to watch later while downloading the entire FLV file, NO buffering was done, all I did was collect the URL from the plugin and then download straight away, with Ooyala, the fragments are all making this difficult, forcing me to watch online. :( I'm an offline type of guy, that's why I prefer to collect the FLV file, even so, I can always watch it again. The last time I watched the BCPT Minute, when Ooyala was used for the first time, it buffers too much when it keeps on downloading the segments, I thought I can just wait for the entire episode to finish downloading the fragments, but I was wrong, I discover the fragments are downloading when the previous ones are done even after I waited for 10 minutes to get the whole thing done. :( Not sure what's wrong, but I prefer a direct download of the FLV itself, you DON'T need to let it host as a video, all you need is to provide the link for the download, much like EA did with their older episodes via Quicktime downloading, that's what I prefer best. ;)

I watched it from start to finish. Didn't notice anything like you have describe above.

The Ooyala player is a huge improvement. I did play with the timeline thing. It even generate little thumbnail previews

I'd like to see the .MOV (Quicktime) version made available as a direct download. Perhaps as a link below the Ooyala player.

Well I had like 4 or 5 buffer moments when it was loading another part.

This is definitely a pro.

Agreed!

Agreed, the old Quicktime download is needed to save convenience for others. Although I understand you all have no problem with Ooyala, but to be honest, I'm from Southeast Asia and our connection qualities may defer from the US or any other English countries, that's why you may never know how much buffering I received like I described.

The thumbnails are cool, I know, but when trying to load one fragment to another is annoying, for instance, I thought the entire episode will load every single segment by itself once I start playing the intro AND stop the video. But apparently, even after I waited 10 minutes, that specific segment is downloaded, but unfortunately, the rest of the segments were NOT downloaded, that's why I waited 10 minutes for nothing. I rather watch the episode WITHOUT the buffering annoyances. If I just keep watching and stop here & there just for the segments to be uploaded, that is annoying already.

Next episode is fine, a good news, but I rather see this episode to be either in the old FLV or the classic MOV format. I just got too tired with those annoying Ooyala segments, it's just like gathering numerous glass pieces and put them together, moreover, some of us are busy adults and do not have a lot of time to watch online. :(

Lastly, may I request that if this episode can be recorded as a single movie file (Either FLV, MOV, AVI, etc..) ?

Sonic, perhaps you must have skipped my post right above you. I did state that I was using Firefox plugins to grab the video's URL straight away without in need of watching the episode, all that buffering is annoying as we know, so I direct download it, thus saves me time & conveniences.

When Ooyala is in use, my plugins capture the segments, and when I download, those segments are not even 1 or 2mb in file size, they're as tiny as broken glass pieces. And that's where I complain. Go ahead and test the plugins yourself and find out how it happened. You can watch fully and have no problem, but when a person wants to download the episode entirely, all that many segments PREVENTS the user from acquiring the episode completely, thus making this episode useless unless you're forcing them to watch online or either they can't watch the episode AT ALL until the direct download is made available.

BCPT episode 21 sure looks good but I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED THAT IT CAN'T BE DOWNLOADED IN ANY WAY no matter if we have video plugins or programs to capture or download the video. It's impossible! All I came up with the video plugins with Firefox are flv or mp4 fragments.

Besides I think that right now that there are no ooyala plugins in order to download videos as flv files unless if someone has found it.

We will bring back the QT download for next episode.

How about this episode? Computers are fast to get that video into a MOV file, uploading to the server should be fast and we shall download for this episode in no time. If I were me, I would do that immediately.

Please don't tell me that the computers in EALA and uploading the file(s) into the servers are slow.

lol.

I don't think they are going to do it with this episode. It's already released you know. Maybe there is going to be a download link for this episode when the next comes.

It's either they are lazy, or more likely diverting whatever avialble resources on the next C&C game project, no free time to waste, buddy.

Exactly. Time is money :)

I wonder if they put all episodes on disk together with "The Second Decade" whenever that comes :)

No, most probably The Second Decade is only available in Online Digital Download via EA Store.

Hate to download games. Theres much more about having a disc in a case.

I wonder if there's even going to be a second decade now that the rumors go that they will end the story.

If they are going to make a DVD version like TFD, They should put the BCPT episodes in it too.

There's a full episode on this on YouTube as well (saying it's BCPT episode 20):

So I must insist that BCPT season 2 premiere did not count as an episode number.

Download link to BCPT 20 from YouTube in FLV SD format:

Heyyyyyy! That's what I'm talking about! Thank goodness that EA had used their Youtube account to solve that problem, much like I remember the BCPT episode which was taken in London and there wasn't any access to a episode download until the FLV file is uploaded, ready to be downloaded for offline & repeating views. :D
