Recommended Posts

I'm in two minds about getting this. Should buy this Battlestar Galactica - Seasons 1-4 (25 Disc Set) when it releases here in NZ. People say its a great series and story.

So for all you Battlestar Galactica, is it worth it?

I used to download episodes as they became available in the States for years. I really liked the series. Does that box set include the miniseries and the Razor movie? There is another BSG movie coming out sometime soon, which follows the Cylons POV through the season.

Though the story is a bit "heavy", the final season was really depressing. But overall its a great series which touches on a lot of interesting issues. The best part of the series though are the characters and how they grow and develop as the series goes on. So when they start killing them off, and they do towards the end, you actually miss them. Instead of the usual "X security guy died". :)

If Stargate and BSG were two kids in a playground. Stargate would be the cool kid with all the fancy bells and whistles. Whilst BSG would be the dark brooding kid in the corner everyone is kinda scared of. ^_^

For frak's sake...

YES BSG (Ronald D. Moore's Re-imagined Series) IS A FRAKKING EXCELLENT TV SERIES, all sci-fi lovers should frakking seriously watched it, it gets better and better as the season progressed!!!

If you have the cash please frakking buy it, HD (Blu-ray) if possible! And do not miss out on the amazing (Season 1-4) soundtracks by a talented composer, Bear McCreary.

BSG Miniseries (2003) + BSG Season 1,2,3,4 + BSG Razor (2007) + BSG The Resistance Webisodes (2006) + BSG The Face of The Enemy Webisodes (2008) + BSG Soundtracks = FTW!

Any queries on BSG please use this link to find out more.

What I can't work out is why season 4 has been released in two parts! It's been FRACKING annoying waiting for the second part - i'm sure they will release it soon as a full set... I'm just not sure if I can wait any longer.

I still have not seen *any* season 4 yet.

Once you see season 4, it kinda makes sense to split it in half. As both parts are very different. ;)

Season 4 Ep 1-10 are separated from Season 4 Ep 11-20 due to writer's strike back then. And... as for the storyline, as Luk3us mentioned, they are considered like 2 chapters instead of 1 chapter. I will not spoiler it much and you should catch it if you have the chance.

I'll probably get it. It doesn't come out until August 12th here. Still watch Season 5 of Stargate Altantis. And Reliving classic episodes of Quantum Leap (great show from the early 1990's)

That damn writers strike ruined Season 7 of SCRUBS damn it!

That strike made comedians funnier, in my opinion. Steward was funnier, as was Ferguson. I liked when the writers were gone, but I don't watch TV shows much, only comedians. As for Battlestar Galactica.. I have a friend that is big fan. He'd talk about it a lot, skip out of doing school work to see new episodes, and he's a smarter and more deep guy so I figured it was good, just not into sci-fi stuff (except for C&C, weird, huh?).

Box sets are so damn expensive. I'd buy some but every time I go into a store and see the price tag, I weep.

The Writers Strike may be a pain in the a** when all the shows when on hiatus. The sad thing was to see some shows getting canned and reduced episodes in that season. Despite all the sh*t, it made some shows better, because some writers had more time to plan, revise and improve on their shows.

Sonic, I realized that this DVD set do not contain Razor. You may have to purchased Razor separately. The webisodes are available in various internet sites and possible on the homepage, ithe webisodes are pretty short stuff but nevertheless its highly recommended to watch.

My gripe with the spilt seasons is purely the cost... like who in the right mind buys two episodes of Star Trek per cassette???

Free tv never finished season 3 over here... it was a hd channel exclusively for a while but I didn't have the proper equipment at the time.

I actually prefer watching it on tv first then rewatching on DVD later.

Do they have the show at your local library? I can get all kinds of good shows at mine.

You mean storing them in the hard disks or something? Yea thats what I did, and thats the reason behind why I need multiple storage hard disks and stuff.

Might purchase the BSG DVD set this week. As it says here http://www.mightyape.co.nz/product/Battles...sc-Set/3067014/ the original mini-series and seasons 1-4 are included. But apparently Razor is not. So where about does Razor fit in? And is necessary for continuities sake?

Razor takes place at about the end of season 2.

The main plot is more of a retroactive look back at a certain vessel and her crew. Whilst it does hint at some story elements for season 3 and 4, its not really ground breaking stuff.

So is it necessary to watch Razor? Well not really. Its like the webisodes, they are kinda interesting, and provide some additional backstory but don't really progress the story. So I'd say no. I thought the movie was neat though. :)

Not exactly accurate. Razor took place between "Season 2, Episode 17: The Captain's Hand" and "Season 2, Episode 19: Lay Down Your Burdens, Part I".

You may watch the entire 4 seasons without Razor, or the websodes for that matter, but you'll get a better idea of the entire BSG story if you just spend an hour plus catching this awesome

pegasus

themed film.

I liked the entire series. I'm waiting for blu ray computer drives to come down in price to where I can afford them and watch the entire series on my computer.

If you are getting blu-ray drives, I doubt there will be that much of a price drop as nothing new is replacing blu-ray.

Price will come down so they can reach more of the market.
