Sonic 296 Posted September 12, 2009 I thought this looked interesting. New movie coming soon... out now in some places.... "Gamer". Stars Gerard Butler from 300. We've all seen movies based on video games, but movies ABOUT video games are a whole different animal. That's what we'll get September 4th when Gerard Butler hooks up and plugs in for the upcoming movie Gamer. Set in a world where gaming has gone to its ultimate level--humans controlling other humans in a sophisticated deathmatch, one such live-meat avatar, played by Butler, decides he doesn't like the life of a video game character. Butler's out to regain his freedom by taking down the cruel controller of the most popular game of the time--Slayers. Here's the trailer! So will this one be a blockbuster or will we be looking for a cheat code to transport us out of the theatre? The password to the comments section is "look down"--so let us know what you think. Thanks for watching! Gamer Official movie trailer is provided courtesy of Lionsgate. Gamer is scheduled to hit theaters on September 4th, 2009 Share this post Link to post
Malevolence 6 Posted September 12, 2009 Madness! This is Gamer! The setting reminded me of the b-grade sci fi films such as Death Race. I have a feeling that this definitely won't be a blockbuster, more of another possibly good b-grade shows. Share this post Link to post
Nmenth 291 Posted September 12, 2009 Did he say "It's Simon..."? Almost expected him to follow with "Your brother..." Never mind if you don't get that. Share this post Link to post
Doctor Destiny 41 Posted September 12, 2009 This movie looks iffy. I'll probably see it when it comes on HBO... Share this post Link to post
Luk3us 63 Posted September 13, 2009 I've heard bad things about this baby. Though at least it isn't preachy about video game violence, which is always annoying. But it does have the guy from Dexter in it. So might see it just for him. Share this post Link to post
Saracen 16 Posted September 13, 2009 (edited) This gives me the feeling that it's a recycle of a few older movies with a modern twist. The Running Man mostly comes to mind. High profile convicts being thrust into a gameshow which also happens to be the most popular on TV... Change the running man gameshow into a computer game, add some of the "The Lawnmower Man" Cliche, with a strong influence of Tron, and have yourself a new movie. There's only room for one computer game style movie within the next 12 months, and this one is made of much win! Edited September 13, 2009 by Saracen Share this post Link to post
