Yeah Win7 64 or 32 bit is the same price here in NZ. Well the OEM release is anyway. And as mentioned earlier in this thread I've ordered Win7 64 bit.

I don't think you can get the full 4 GB of RAM using Vista 32bit. I know I can't.

Misnomer. Look up Physical Address Extension (PAE).

You don't actually pay any more for a 64-bit OS. Same price as 32. At least it was when I checked it was.

Sorry my bad, I was under the impression that 64bit will cost more than 32bit OS.

I'm now up and running on Windows 7 (64 bit Home Prem).

Since its a fresh install on a formatted hard drive the fun now begins reinstalling and restoring all my apps, games and files.

Oh ****! Did a backup CNCNZ.com? ;)

I've been running Windows 7 Ultimate x86 on my laptop for a month now and it's so damn sexy. I had trouble activating it, but it was soon resolved. The system is very responsive and PS Lightroom does much better job now. RA2/YR run without any problems, the same is valid for TW/KW and RA3. Haven tried TS and TD, but they should be working with the thipx32.dll fix for XP.

When I get back home for the Holidays I'll surely upgrade my home PC to Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and my laptop too, but for now I'm sticking with the 32-bit version.

Windows 7 does look like a sexy bitch... I might grab it earlier than previous expected...

But if I do, I'll probably get a new mobo, cpu & ram at the same time... So it might be a bit costly... Hmm, decisions, decisions..

Though Windows 7 may look similar to Vista on first glance, it is so much superior, and do you know you can set multiple wallpapers every 10 min/1 hr/ 1 day etc. Its definitely good for those who cant make up their mind which wallpaper to choose.

Congrats to your purchases, Sonic! Hope you every every moment of Windows 7!

Well so far so good with Win7. All of my old apps run perfectly. Some are really old like my HomeSite 5.5 (made in 2002) and Paint Shop Pro 7 (made in 2001). They work fine with compatibility set for WinXP just as did in Vista.

I do have one problem. When I switch on my external eSata hard drive Win7 doesn't recognize it at first. I have to use the Action Center Troubleshooter (which is damn good!!) and tell Win7 its there. I'm sure I'll solve that one eventually.

Other than that its all good.

Seeing the release of Windows 7 today to the worldwide public, I'll think I wait later to buy the new OS.

I'm running Windows 7 Pro, I got it for $32. http://windows7.digitalriver.com/store/msw...s=1257385606779

Enter in your .edu email address, they send you a link, click link, scroll down to the yellow bar select Windows 7 Pro

I had to download it from a torrent though because the content delivery system for that company is horrible. These two links helped me out a lot getting it to work

The installation off a usb drive was awesome.
