Command & Conquer 4 - The Forgotten Ironback

The "Forgotten Ironback" is the new name for what was once code named the "Forgotten Gorilla". This was the name picked as a result of the recent Command & Conquer 4 "Name that Unit" contest. Take a look at the new concept art below.

I do not doubt that whoever created 'Ironback' was making a play on words off silverback, which is a... gorilla.

Not the choice I would have gone with, but whatever, it could have been worse. Like APOC's Pink Pony or something.

Well, at least that Gorilla name is out of the equation since that name is a little too simple. Ironback taken from Silverback may not be very bright, but at least the name is far better than the simple Gorilla name.

He must be referring to the crazy conspiracy that the subtitle TT was already selected before the name the game competition began or something.

Or the fact that it was the obvious choice from the beginning, making the whole contest pointless if they were just going to pick it in the end anyway.

I see. I guess it does look kinda daddy-ish, with the hunched over back and massive drill (don't read too deeply into that!).

Where TT got voted as the name because virtually every fan sent that in as a entry?

Many fans submit that TT name in order to honor and pay homage to the late Westwood Studios of course, and EA did the same in return so it'll make the fans happy.

 

I submit that TT name too, I didn't care if I'm going to win that title competition, but I was surprised when that TT name won and many of us TT submitters get exclusive early access to the beta.
