CNCNZ.com Turns 12 Years Old

Happy 12th Birthday to CNCNZ.com! And to Sonic, I just want to say that you've been a good friend to me and a very dedicated webmaster over these many years. Congrats on your anniversary and a job well done, and for supporting and helping to keep the C&C Community alive and growing.

I thought CNCNZ.com is 12 years old but when I looked at the history page, the domain and website itself is only over 10 years old. The name was actually started at the end of 1999 and the domain website was born in 2000.

 

It's actually 12 years of Sonic with several domains started out as the Red Alert Zone through to CNCNZ.

Yeah, just different incarnations or versions of the site. Like a lot of sites things evolve and change over time.

 

Quick timeline....

• October 1997 - Original Red Alert Zone
• 1998 - TiberianSun.Net.NZ (ORAZ retired)
• 1999 - Changed to Command & Conquer NZ (birth of the CNCNZ short name)
• 2000 - Purchase of cncnz.com and then officially renamed the site to CNCNZ.com

Back in the old days (1997/1998) which can be considered the early days of the online C&C community there were really no big sites covering all C&C games. Of course at the time in 1997 it was either the original C&C or Red Alert. The community exploded with popularity with Tiberian Sun in 1998 and by 1999 (thanks to the delayed TS release) many sites started evolving and covering multiple C&C games.
