Luk3us 63 Posted November 3, 2009 The second Command & Conquer 4 unit profile has been posted on the Official C&C Site. This one gives us a detailed look at the GDI Mastodon. This lumbering giant should be a fearsome sight on the battlefield, check out more below. During the Second Tiberium War, the Mammoth Mk. II stood as the most dominant force on the battlefield, capable of laying waste to any and all Nod opposition with its chin-mounted auto-cannon, multiple anti-aircraft missile launchers, and state-of-the-art experimental railguns. The Mk. II's dominance came at a price, however, as the vehicle's development and production costs were notoriously high. Field tests conducted at the height of the Second Tiberium War showed that, although effective, the Mk. II was a highly unreliable beast, requiring extended maintenance on a regular basis, and as such worked best with an escort force. After the war, GDI High Command ceased production of the walker, claiming that with Kane dead and Nod all but destroyed, the "absurd" amount of money spent on weapons development would instead be redirected to Tiberium containment programs. Gben 20 Posted November 3, 2009 This profile doesn't impress me like I expected it would. It probably has a lot to do with my preference for the other mammy and my general dislike of GDI mechs. Possibly they should have played more to the technological advances that Kane brought through the alliance to make the Mastodon possible. But the chin turret as an artillery weapon particularly irks me... shouldn't they require a high arc in order to reach their turret??? Share this post Link to post
Nmenth 289 Posted November 3, 2009 In agreement with gben, not very impressed and the chin turret is lacking. I also never really liked the missile volleys used as oppressive fire along with cannons since TW did it with the Mammoth Tank. Share this post Link to post
Sonic 293 Posted November 3, 2009 Possibly they should have played more to the technological advances that Kane brought through the alliance to make the Mastodon possible. My guess is that could be covered during the single player campaign. I like this profile. Especially the Havoc reference.... GDI combined the Mk. II walker technology with innovations Kane had garnered from the Tacitus, and formally introduced the next generation assault walker, the Mastodon, in 2069. When the first Mastodon rolled out of the renovated San Pedro war factory, Col. Nick "Havoc" Parker, retired war hero, was said to have remarked "Bureaucratic doves, 'bout damn time!" BioBen 3 Posted November 3, 2009 These groups, affectionately known as "herds", have been deployed to the front to fight Gideon and his Separatist forces. Gideon? New bad-guy? Share this post Link to post
Luk3us 63 Posted November 3, 2009 You know, Havoc must be getting fairly old by now. Share this post Link to post
ORCaLoVeR 0 Posted November 3, 2009 oh well. I like how EALA is gonna implent both the Mammoth tank AND the mastodon to the Assault class arsenal. This way, everyone gets their share. I just dont like the fact bout the head exploding........ I hope this is just to show of the new "units take showable damage over time in battle" thing Share this post Link to post
Troopzor 5 Posted November 3, 2009 You know, Havoc must be getting fairly old by now. I like to think of it as a reference at how us Renegade players never seem to go away I'd take a Renegade 2 over C&C4 any day personally Share this post Link to post
Malevolence 6 Posted November 3, 2009 GDI combined the Mk. Kane + MMKII? WTF? And the video lacks the depth charge deployment video. Btw this is my favorite unit. Share this post Link to post
Sonic 293 Posted November 3, 2009 And the video lacks the depth charge deployment video. APOC has said the video will be updated when they are ready to show that. And a quick reminder. The GDI Orca is the next profile coming on Thursday or Friday... depending on your part of the world Share this post Link to post

Guest Stevie_K Posted November 3, 2009 An alright unit profile. The missiles it fires somehow reminds me of the mammy in RA. And yeah I totally agree that the Nod units doesn't look good. Share this post Link to post
ORCaLoVeR 0 Posted November 3, 2009 EA knows that all their Nod units look terrible, and they dont dare to show them  Share this post Link to post

ORCaLoVeR 0 Posted November 3, 2009 i hope it will be actually usefull The one from C&C3 was terrible I'm a big fan of TS. And if you go down from a 4 Member Orca family wich are actually usefull to a one Orca wich can be barely used and is shot down with the least amount of AA Share this post Link to post
Sonic 293 Posted November 3, 2009 You know, Havoc must be getting fairly old by now. He's got to be around 90 years old by now. But age means nothing in the world of video games Share this post Link to post
Luk3us 63 Posted November 4, 2009 True, but I get the impression that EA just throw his and other people's names in at random. We're sensing a theme here... Feels kinda like what they did with Tiberium. They released close to nothing about Nod at all. Which wasn't a bad thing actually as it built up the anticipation. But can't really do that here, since there is only Nod and GDI. Share this post Link to post

But can't really do that here, since there is only Nod and GDI. Well with Tiberium, Nod were only included because of fan pressure, so the information would have been released as the product continued on. Personally, it seems EA hate Nod with a passion - and ironically hate something like half, maybe three quaters of the Tiberiumverse Fanbase. Share this post Link to post

Raptor 4000 0 Posted November 4, 2009 They need more Nod fans to work at EALA =_= I think that sums up the solution case and point. The evidence is clearly there in C&C 3. Share this post Link to post
Guest Stevie_K Posted November 4, 2009 It's just that the concept artists/3d artists makes Nod units look like they are from year 3000 and not 2070.. The designs are to slick, dark and futuristic.. If we look back we can see that Nod designs wasn't UBER sci-fi compared to GDI's, just designed with a Nod flavor to it. To be honest, the Eagle vs Scorpion FMV wouldn't fit with these Nod designs. (Not saying that it has to, but you get the point) Share this post Link to post

ORCaLoVeR 0 Posted November 4, 2009 It issent bout the theme the way it looks, it is about how the WHOLE thing bloody looks. Seriously, did u saw the flamer? That nod Rocket walker thing?
