I looked at the questions, and thought, I've got nothing positive to say.

  • The concept of using Tiberium as a upgrade mechanic is okay... well it's definitely better than earlier builds of the game, but the decision to drop them by the sky is woeful. Tiberium vein detonation... would be more reasonable.
  • I have uninstalled the game from home comp to make room... I still have access elsewhere but little time. I would probably play it more if it had an AI mode. MP is not my thing so there is no incentive.
  • I haven't even thought about the collectors edition, but I wouldn't be surprised if one is announced later. But with the unlikely event that it would include something that I couldn't download from some chap somewhere - I'm not that cut up about it. Although the epic conclusion deserves something better!

Or a map prop of a damaged TCN leaking Tiberium. It wouldn't be capturable like the others for victory -- just a point for Tiberium collection. Or a broken transfer pipe, or you know, actual Tiberium deposits in the wilder parts of the globe (not suitable for blue-zone maps). They would serve exactly the same purpose* but would be much better from a fiction standpoint and a logical standpoint than magical flying crystals.

*Of course that doesn't address that the mechanic is a pale shadow of what it once was, but it would be an improvement to the existing mechanic.

But they aren't magical flying crystals. There is a back story to them. But I will agree some sort of more traditional way to collect Tiberium would have been better.

I think EALA's idea of having Tiberium collected from nodes and ships (when they did not know that most of the world is covered with Tiberium including on blue zones) is actually very flawed... and that conflicts the story, not the game. Also a major conflict, no money credits used to buy units and structures, but just command points to use? There's no meaning or purpose to use command points to substitute money credits just to build units, but that's the type of weak gameplay used in WIC. In COH, you create a unit or structure using manpower units (substitutes credits), fuel and command points. In Warcraft III, you create a unit or structure using gold, food, lumber and command points. Technically C&C4 is still missing something when it comes to building units and collecting stuff.

I was just thinking before checking the forums, that the 'magical flying crystal' in reverse would be a good mechanic. Some structure refines the tiberium for transport out of the battlefield, deloys in landing zone after set time, then after a set delay, a carryall comes and picks up the refined tiberium for the greater good. In practise, this means the players have a defined window to 'liberate' the tiberium for the local war effort but also means a timing push would be involved to make sure you're in the right place at the right time.

But this would be a great place for a LAB...a lab to refine the raw tiberium... then we could defend it, escort, destroy it, capture it.

LOLS. :)
